Well, here in Raleigh we managed to escape any serious frost damage in October. But it looks as if we might get a freeze and/or widespread frost Friday night. So I took a few pics today of what's still blooming. The Salvia leucantha and S. mexicana are still looking good. S. guarantica and the hedychiums are also still blooming. Rosa mutablis and 'New Dawn' have a few late-season flowers. But my best-looking rose is 'Crépuscule' ... probably my favorite. It puts on a great show in the spring, blooms off and on through the summer without being bothered by blackspot or mildew, and then tries for one last hurrah in the fall. Warm, tropical color and it's fragrant too.
