Yep, feral pigeons, a.k.a. Rock Doves, Rock Pigeons.
The reason they are so variable is human breeding for different colours, much like the variation in domesticated dogs or cats.
The wild type (found in parts of Europe and Asia) is much less variable. This pic shows one with the natural wild-type plumage pattern, mostly pale grey with two black wingbars, and a dark head with a glossy neck patch: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stevegreaves/3651728708/
Thanks a lot Resin. I don't remember seeing one with just two wing bars, as in the pic from your link - but then again, I don't live in Europe nor Asia.
Your link called it a Rock Dove and the book I like to use - Birds of Georgia Field Guide, by Stan Tekiela, called them Rock Pigeons. Apparently, it makes no difference whether you use dove of pigeon.
