As a beginning veggie gardener I am often surprised.

I had to add a second string to my polestring bean and corn bed. Is the string too skinny? Is it too short?. The corn is quickly being outgrown in spite of the fact that the beans were planted two weeks after the corn came up. I found my bare arms VERY itchy after coming in contact with the bean plants while putting up the string. Is this common? I see more long sleeve shirts in my future.

I harvested 3 bush beans and two squash blossoms today. My very first harvest. I have a full bed of bush beans (4x4 feet square) that was planted about a week later, so my harvest should increase soon.

My first tomato seedlings are ready to transplant along with a few basil plants.
