Mmmnnn...love to grow the sweet olive but doubt it would enjoy the Maine climate very much in the same way as tropicals and many others do not.

I can and do, however, grow tropicals successfully in pots or by planting out in summer and potting for the winter.

Will the sweet olive adapt to pot culture outdoors in summer moving to my small conservatory in winter and retain the pleasurable fragrance that Southerners enjoy?

That's hard for me to guess. I suspect that if your conservatory is cool and has good light, that the sweet olive would bloom and perfume the area nicely during the winter. I'd provide it a container with room for its roots to grow.

Best,
Marie
