Can anyone ID this? It is growing on my Quince bush and I'm curious. I never saw one like this before. Thanks.

This looks like an empty cocoon of a luna moth (Actias luna; Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) - they often are found wrapped in a leaf or leaves - see http://tinyurl.com/yg2tfc9 for an example.

Interesting. I had not seen it before Friday and I frequently pass by the Quince bush. I had hoped it was a recent structure, since one of the leaves incorporated (other side of the cocoon) is green.

Thanks for your thoughts and for the link.
