Snowy Plover (North America; formerly Charadrius alexandrinus nivosus) has now been split from Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus; Europe, Asia) as Charadrius nivosus. See The Auk 126(4): 839−852 (2009) http://www.bath.ac.uk/bio-sci/biodiversity-lab/publications/... (pdf file) for scientific details; the split has been accepted by the International Ornithological Congress (IOC).

BirdFiles entries have been updated:
Kentish Plover: http://davesgarden.com/guides/birdfiles/go/361/
Snowy Plover: http://davesgarden.com/guides/birdfiles/go/2693/

Time to update your books, and personal records, if any!

Piping Plover is a different species (and always has been treated so), Charadrius melodus. BirdFiles page: http://davesgarden.com/guides/birdfiles/go/439/
