Not sure why the thread is dated 2008,,,as i just have received this Nov. 2009.
Victor I am interested in your age group? Gardening is not & has not really ever been a womens field. When I started gardening in 1998 my first client & her husband retired to the kitchen to discuss me! his responce to his wife 'but she's a girl'
Most famous landscape gardeners (from the 16th century & on) have been men...very few women. All British allotments during world war 1 & 2 were grown by men. Gardening is a relatively new field to women...I still run into people who cannot accept that I am a professional gardener & a women & to this day suffer from the 'but shes a girl' reaction...I am now 50.
A reasonable response. With a little background, always welcome
among serious gardeners when chatting or debating with some authority
the theme in question.
