A local nursery has trained these as a patio tree with a single trunk, about 5' tall and 3' across. They are lovely with their arching branches, beautiful flowers, and seed pods, but will they be controllable? From what I've read these can grow 30' as a vine. I live in coastal So. Calif. so they won't get real tropical weather like Florida, but we do have nice weather year round with no frost. Has anyone grown this as a small tree, and if so are they managable? I don't mind a monthly trimming, but I don't want something that will take over. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
