This tree was fruiting in August in Chiapas, Mx. The fruit, when ripe (red), was on the dry side. The leaves are about 4-6" long, longer than those of the Spondias mombin described in the literature. I am still wondering what the difference is between Spondias purpurea var. lutea and Spondias mombin, too. Can anyone please enlighten me?

Looks more like a Loquat, Eriobotrya japonica.
