This is my first year planting a hydrangea. I bought Endless Summer because of our cold weather. Question: I didn't plan to do any cutting, but thought that I probably should cut the old flowers off before protecting for winter - should I cut the whole stem off or just the dead flower head?
I'd just remove the flower head since ES blooms on both old and new growth, Dathen. Good luck and let us all know how well the plant did for you. Thanks.
You can keep the flower heads and if they don't dry the precise color you like you can spray paint them (as I sometimes do to astilbe in August in the garden).
