Seed Germination: hardy Victoria water lily

I read (or dreampt) a couple of decades ago about a Victoria-type water lily that is 2/3 as big as the giant-leaved plant but cold hardy as far north as the New England states. Does anybody know of such a plant and where can I buy seed?
