I used to say that word a lot feeding my Babies their early solid foods...It worked...:o)

When you posted this word--I immediately wondered if the word "Yummy" comes from "Nyam"????? Hmmmmmmm...
Just curious...

Great article, Lois! I will, surely, print it out for the information. Might have to educate some Produce Mgrs. in my Grocery Store.

Gitagal - Interesting correlation on the origin of a word or expression! When you tell a child, "Yum yum" to encourage him to eat, could it be that nannies of African origin used to say "Nyam nyam" also to encourage children to eat? (sort of like "mangia mangia" as my own grandmother used to say.)
