... when we first moved to suburbia from NYC over 40 years ago, but, after she injured her back, she couldn't work in it anymore, and essentially abandoned it. I couldn't stand to see it barren, and I started to work it. The garden has since expanded manyfold, including both flowers and veggies, and has been all mine for many years.
There are roses, but they include the flowers. And there's a compost heap, but I never tried the added nitrogen suggestion.
