Thanks for a fun article, Carrie! I love the title.

And I'm still LOL @ "The Dance of the Prune Fairy."

Didn't the California Prune Board (or some such organization) recently petition the FDA so they could label their product "dried plums" rather than "prunes," since "prune" had come to have unappealing connotations?

Yes, you will often find prunes packaged as "dried plums" nowdays.

I found an article from early 2001 about the name change http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-4577829.html

Looks like the CA Prune Board now bills itself as the California Dried Plum Board. The site has info & recipes... http://www.californiadriedplums.org/
