What a delightful article Carrie! I always had a mandarin orange in the toe of my stocking when I was a seedling which Santa left for me knowing they are my favorites. Now when Santa hitch hikes to visit me on Christmas Eve we both enjoy oranges with our refreshing beverages before he goes about his busy night. Santa says the cookie and milk thing is over rated.

To this day, the smell of tangerines always reminds me of Christmas, as they were in my stockings when I was growing up. That seems to be the only time I remember tangerines around the house - Christmastime! Thanks for the investigative report!

When I was very young we use to have oranges, tangerines, and mixed nuts in our stocking too. We also had a peppermint stick. We would stick the peppermint stick in the orange and after a little bit of time passed your could suck on the peppermint stick and the mixture of orange juice with peppermint would come through. It was delicious and a real treat to us kids. Such simple things but, great memories!!

Yummy, I think I'll have a Clementine right now in honor of all your citrus Christmas memories.
