When I retired a couple of years ago a dear friend pulled up in our driveway with a Lowe's flowering pear tree protruding from the sun roof of his sports car -- his idea of the perfect retirement gift for a gardener. I had no need or room for a flowering pear tree, but I made a spot in view of our breakfast room windows and enjoy a chuckle every time I see it and recall the memory of it sticking through the roof of that car. ;-)

We got a flowering pear tree as a wedding gift. I read up on them, and Handsome Man suggested we plant it under the power lines. It's still going, although it's not my favorite. We have an aspen in the back yard that a friend brought on the roof of his car. He must not have had a sun roof like your friend did, and it DEFINITELY was not a sports car. LOL!
