Today, though, it felt like you have been reading my mind. The catalogs, the possibilities (!), the wondering where it will all fit into the gardens, the embarrassingly large checks, the pockets awaiting the arrival of seeds... I do love the winter break from gardening - when all of the weeds go away and there is a new opportunity to keep them in check next season, when I promise I will pinch for bushier plants next time and maybe even thin the Larkspur (which I can't usually bear to do). I live in zone 5 as well - about 25 miles west of Chicago, IL. Happy planning!
It only gets worse, I'm afraid. I look out the east windows and think, hmm I can put this here and that there, and the petunias looked good by the walkway, but there must be something else that will like both the sunny side and the shady side and I'm going to grow more beans this year and plant three plantings of peas instead of just two . . .
