Just wanted to check in and ask if any of you noticed an uptick in health department and department of agriculture inspections at your markets in 2009. In my 5 year of doing this, we never have a visit from any authorities. At a new market we attended this year, we saw 2 inspections. And they seized a large quantity of raw milk at a large market north of us. The baker where we get our baguette from has said that the inspectors have been aggressive to say the least.
I have pretty much told the vendors at the markets that I manage that they could pretty much bet the farm that we will be visited this year. We have some vendor that even though they produce a high quality product, would be right in their crosshairs.
