I loved your story! The mindless meanderings through the house and forgetting an intention the moment something else comes onto your horizon - yes, very familiar!!
My first winter here on Ontario, was terrible! Thats' when I learnt the term cabin fever - that must have been a common condition in days gone by when there was no internet to take your mind off the monotony of winter days!
Your barn picture suits the mood very well - and we have a view of a very similar barn right acrooss the road from us!What I still find confusing is the fact that there are so many cold places in the States too - I always thought Canada had the monopoly on the winter scene. Mind you, the Ottawa valley is situated further south then some places in your northern states. I've added a picture of a flowering pelargonium I grew one winter. It finally started flowering around February. This year I have 2 pots of fuchsias which are just starting to flower.
Meanwhile, hang in there - the days are getting longer already!
