This swap is closed. All names have been assigned!

    Here's how it works.

As you sign up, please dmail me your preference for colors. I will pair each of you up with a buddy who chooses the same or similar color preferences.

DO NOT POST YOUR COLOR PREFERENCE HERE, PLEASE DMAIL ME WITH YOUR COLORS!

I will tell you which goes first, and you will then send your buddy 12 fat quarters that coordinate in their color preference. When they receive their fat quarters, they will in turn send you 12 coordinating fat quarters, not duplicating any of the prints you sent her.

If you go buy a half yard of fabric, and send your buddy half of that half yard (cut at the fold), and keep the other half for yourself... and your buddy does the same... then in the end you'll have 24 different prints, and enough fabric to make the top for a wonderful lap quilt.

    RULES:
    1. All fabrics must be 100% cotton. No poly/cotton blends, please.
    2. Should you not be able to meet the deadlines for mailing, please let your buddy know... it's just the courteous thing to do.
    3. We want to see pictures of all the fat quarters together... so the 2nd buddy of each pair should post a pic of their new stash.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN THE ADDRESS EXCHANGE!

I will take names through the end of January, and you will have till February 14 to mail them of to the first partner. The second partner will have two weeks once they recieve their fat quarters!

    Let the games begin.

Smiley face means you have recieved your fabrics.

Sondra, I love the fabrics, and they will be so pretty, in what ever I make with them. Just need to decide what to do with them? So many options!
First of all they came fed ex, and when I opened the box, I was so surprised to see these beautiful flower fabrics, in a very nice tin bucket, like a fresh picked bouquet of flowers. Did you paint the flowers?
Next picture will be them all flat so you can see them.
Thanks so much Sondra/Mojoquilter. I love everyone you sent!

I found the tin at the little dollar store around the corner from work on a gray and dreary day and I thought it added a bit of sunshine. I don't think the sun is going to come out until July here. I'm glad you liked them! maybe we can make companion log cabin quilts or something.

isn't that just the prettiest :) I don't know if I could be patient enough to make a block here and there over time. I'd probably do some marathon piecing and stay up for 5 nights in a row! One of the things I love the most about that quilt is if you look closely, her florals are just all kinds of styles, colors, and patterns. It makes me think of a gorgeous cottage garden in full vibrant summer bloom.

Well my headache today has just gotten worse thinking about a floral log cabin. Need to get things under control until after the festival. It took a rather sharp change in January and I am now doing 2 jobs trying to pull the pieces back together. Oh well guess that is what happens when you agree to chair. Still making notes so come April 1, I am going to do some serious thinking about the above. Thanks again for posting the site

That floral is just stunning! I am amazed when people can picture how the blocks go together to form those patterns. I guess that is why people have a design wall; to lay that out. I don't have that kind of ability. I can copy anything or follow a pattern but to invision patterns like that beforehand is not something I can do. Of course, that is why there are so many pattern books.

Beautiful quilt..I've got my quilting book here at the office, hoping if feeling ok this weekend to cross the border to Joanne's Fabrics ..want to purchase flannel for a rag quilt for my youngest son, also for the Country Flowers Quilt that I have the pattern for..designed by Rebecca Collins..so was getting yardage needed...

Very similar to the above..is also done in Log Cabin fashion...when quilted each 4 squares look like a flower.. the diamond set in the center of the 4 blooks really makes the flower...so pretty..will quilt this one on my own...

Just took photo's on my labtec here at the office, poor quality but might give you an idea...

Yes, a thread would be perfect, I've a lot of floral material, will have to peruse the bins and see what I have, what colors and of cours make note..Joanne's Fabrics might have perfect complimentary colors...

Got to tell you, that's a commitment and a half having those birds..SIL Suzanne and Lenny just gave theirs to a pet store, had him 35 years I believe and he's going to live to 100... adorable though!

Oh, I love the conures, but they can be noisy also! I went to the San Antonio zoo last year, and went into the aviary, with the conures, and they ar so sweet, they loved the cups of nectar, and feed right out of your hands!
    Very pretty indeed!

Publix icecream is the best..so creamy!!! better keep my mind from that avenue..put on 3 lbs. while away this past weekend..not a good thing after working so hard to shed it...must have been Crackerbarrel breakfasts...

Well I've a long story to tell.usually takes forever for my package to arrive so as I was going to Buffalo AND Joann's Fabrics is just down the street from the hotel what a perfect opportunity to buy and ship..

Got to Joann's on Friday night, wouldn't you know they were doing year end inventory and NO 'fat quarters'...disappointed to say the least..saleslady gave me the address for another Joann's outside of town, well at least I could go there as soon as they opened and still make the noon post office dealine..

Got there for 10am, only a handful of 'fat quarters' none of which were the right colors..drats and more drats, so disappointing..as well, they were doing inventory spring changes...did get some material but not in 'fat quarter' format..

What I did manage to do was pick up flannel - 3 designs with golf theme..if I pick up plain flannel in a few colors I just might have enough to make both Jeff and Greg a rag quilt for Christmas..

On my way home from Buffalo I stopped in Cookstown at the cutest sewing shop, bought a rag quilt pattern for a design that I liked and now I'm ready to SEW!!!

Love the material shown above...fun getting a package of sewing materials isn't it...

For my bud, not fat quarters, think overall same amount of yardage, best I could do, hope the box filled will goodies will make up for it!

I noticed at the Joann's here that once they got in their spring order of fat quarters, they raised the price to $1.99 each. That's a $0.50 raise in price. Still, not a bad price overall.

Saturday was my "Great deal" day. A friend found a three piece wicker set (loveseat and two chairs) for $48 to go in my new sunroom. I love them and they only need to be painted to be fresh as a daisy!

Then went to my favorite local quilt shop. They were having a Super Bowl Sale and had rooms and rooms of fabric all on sale!! There were a lot of woman there and some had the things I wanted on their carts, so after I had looked my fill and picked up the bolts I wanted I went to check-out and just stood by when some of the women were checking out. As they were finished with the bolt I snatched it up before it went out on the floor again. They had lots of batiks and I got all my fabrics for the fat quarter swap and some for me, too; fabrics for the blocks for 12 month, too. And all for the amazing price of $2.50 a yard! No wonder the ladies were coming from all over Michigan and were stacked up like cord wood to check out! I have to remember this!!!

did much the same Janice..bought some prints for the thread catchers..unique material, scissors, thread printed..cute..as well, the flannel for the golf rag quilts were $2.49 a yard..excellent price..

Going to check their flyer out and make another trip with my friends who sew...

As for fat quarters, I pay anywhere from $3.50 each to $4.00 and sometime $4.50 each so even at $1.98 a great bargain to be had, just didn't have them this past weekend..girl said the supplier had been changed and things would change re stock..that's not good!

I drove 75 miles yesterday, to shop for fabric, and all I could find was wal marts in Uvalde. They had no fat quarters, so I guess I need to get mine onine?

Actually the salesperson LindaKay said that they changed distributor and would be limited...after all was said and done on Saturday, didn't the SuperWalmart in Lewiston have some, every color and pattern that you could think of..I am so used to our Walmarts not having a fabric department, all except the Barrie one and they are going to shortly be a superstore ...they were $1.98, was too late, pkg. already in the mail..wouldn't you know!

Now yesterday when I stopped in at the Cookstown sewing boutique they had such a good selection but $3.50 each...she did give me a good price on an iron though..

Jaye, I was hoping you'd like them! The FQ I gift wrapped them in is a fav that I buy from an Ebay dealer, very cute, but fits the quilting group especially well. Just so happened that I still had the purpley color, it also comes in black.

If we don't get the extra 6-8" that we're warned about tomorrow, I'm taking a trip back down to the new LQS to see if they have any yellows to go with those purples.. and to check out their Civil War prints to see what they have.

Barb, Jean, and anyone else that's in the new line of the fluffy rain... snuggle in and heat up the cocoa! I would send you all a piece of the Red Velvet cake I made for this weekend, but it would freeze on the way up!

We are due for only 5-8 inches today. Seems like a mere pittance after what Jean has been hit with. But we need it. If we don't get a lot of snow in the winter, we end up with drought in the summer. Weird how one season depends on the others but that's nature for you.

You bad, bad girl! I followed the bread crumbs to that site, put in the same floral batiks and wow, wow, wow! the only bad thing is I found 7 I like but they are all from different shops. Would really rather order from one place and pay postage and shipping once than 7 x's. But they are lovely things and I put them in my "stash". The more I see of the batiks the more I love them; their watercolor feel speaks to me.
I think I just may have to have curtains for the guest room out of batiks.

if you like purple I can send you all you'd want and I still have a huge box of what I saved after I cut the CR words out of the bags. The side strips you get from the bags are about 4 inches by 18 inches and the back of the bag you get a good 4" by 6" or 4" by 8" rectangle. One word of advice though, DON"T cut up the bags and then prewash them. I learned the hard way to just toss them in the washer intact. Somewhere I have a huge ball of purple waiting to be untangled.

and last but not least...adorable appliqué...

I will be adding some batting, and backings, and quilting, and then pass these on to my sheriff's dept...they will be used by first response units, in any cases involving babies, or children ( fires, domestic violence, etc..)

some of you may remember the baby challenge quilts some of us did a while back...well I did one and wanted to donate local...so I asked around, and ended up having a few very interesting conversations, with our Mayor, and the local police and Sheriffs Departments. decided to go with the Sheriff's Dept...I came to realize there is quite a "need" out there...

I posted a few times that I would send fabric out to those willing to make a quilt. and / or a top...and some big hearted folks like Judy have sent me tops, some others are making the whole quilt...

this is going to be an on going project for me, and I still have some "kid" fabrics, I will send you a half yard to get you started...just let me know...

How many times can one say 'oh my God' oh my GOD' OH MY GOD!!!' Lordy I've been blessed today..what a fat quarter swap, someone sure did spoil me..

Not sure I can keep calm enough to post photo's..calm down girl, calm down...

As I took each item out of the box I said 'oh my God'

Marion, you were too generous, I know you were and I don't like it when people say 'you shouldn't have' to me but in this case you went above and beyond...

I have never seen such fat quarters, the way they are packaged, and if that should have been enough you included another piece of material...

As I looked at them all packaged up, co-ordinating and looking so pretty I thought of a stained glass sheet of molted lava that I received as a gift, it too was too beautiful to cut up into a project, there it sits, looking pretty...am sure that this package will be the same...ooooh maybe not..

I've gone back to look at it several times and thought how country it looks..was thinking the other day of making a table cloth, now wouldn't this make the prettiest one..you know me and my floormats..well the large one under my table has to be changed..never liked it since the day I painted it..looking at your blue/yellow print and thought...table cloth..matching floormat...oooh a project to put on my 'to do' list...honest, I'll be posting them both shortly..lol

OK girls, take a look at my fat quarters...

Yikes, I truly am a happy camper...

Now look at the co-ordinating color...

Marion, are you sure you weren't reading on some threads I'm on to say how I wanted to make a table cloth, had I gone out I'd not have picked anything as beautiful..can't you see a floormat 8 x 10' under a table with matching table cloth?

    Happy dance here...

Glad you like them--I couldn't resist and go the same collection for myself. Not sure what I will do but I love your idea of a tablecloth and matching rug!! Will be awaiting pictures of the finished project. Just remember there is this lady in the south that hope you enjoy and hopes to some day share a cup of tea with a butter tart at that table.
