Dear Stephanie, there is a book you would love reading. Janisse Ray, Ecology of a Cracker Childhood (Minneapolis: Milkweed Editions, 1999) It may be in your library. This is a paperback and I'd be happy to send it to you if you send me your address, as I've read it twice and am ready to pass it on. Janisse grew up in southeast Georgia in the pines.
