Thanks for the bergenia article. I planted three plants in the fall of 2008. Had only one blossom in the spring of 2009, but the plants did so well, and are so ineresting for the leaf formations that I bought three additional plants for my small, shade garden (which I hope to be sooner or later, an all season color garden). I'm depending on the bergenia to provide most of the "color" during December. Have planted clyclamen near the bergenia, and the leaf combination/contrast is interesting and "colorful" in non-blooming season. Am working toward some small winter-blooming shrubs (have a Christmas Box) on order; primrose (several species) which bloomed last year in late February, early March. At any rate, haven't seen much written about bergenia, and appreciated the article about a plant of which I am becoming very fond.

I also enjoyed the Bergenia article. This is not grown enough in this area where it does very well. It germinates readily from saved seed with no pretreatment required. Al
