I am a gardener from SouthEast Tennessee and I have been gardening for many years. However, I have never tried to grow the early veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, or lettuce. Now, I would like to try growing these plants this year but need some advice to get started. Is it too early to begin these plants in the greenhouse? Also, when should I start onions (from seed), carrots, and beets outdoors? Any advice you can give me in regards to the previously mentioned vegetables would be very helpful. I have tried to grow onions several times but they have never even reached bulb stage so I know i am doing something wrong. Friends that live fairly close have grown wonderful onions, but not me! (I'm a little too embarrased to ask them about it, since I was the one that started them gardening in the first place!
Thanks so much for any help! I have read some about starting these varieties but most of the info is in regards to planting in the north.
