This is from my back door as I start down the trail.

The water was flowing so pretty and clear today. The split has two little streams coming into one. Nice!

Sorry for the delay Jar. CP's are carnivorous plants. This is our thread for the theme gardens were working on this spring. Some are doing Goth gardens and CP's will go in those. Check out the thread here; http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1066167/ Pick a theme and join right in.

Show us some more pics RRM. I'm still looking for bloodroot seeds for you. I found some wild iris if you want to tuck them in a nook somewhere. Maybe we should have a thread for a woodland garden. Ferns and Arisaemas and herbs and wildflowers. Wild grapes and blackberries. Do you have mayapples in the spring? Haven't seen those in years.

Ge1836 I loved your swamp pics. Reminds me of corkscrew swamp in FL. Talented.

Char, DH and I just love this time of year for woods walks - everything is on the verge of waking up - it's so exciting to catch buds just at the moment they begin to swell. Of course, with our on/off winter weather patterns, you can watch the calyx of a dogwood bud open and close the same tiny distance for weeks! Skunk cabbage tops and mosses and leaves of violets, spring beauties, liverwort all tantalize and remind us that spring is not very many weeks away from today and that the vast expanses of asphalt, concrete and contractor-managed McMansion sod are all an unfortunate illusion. Well, at least for those magical moments when we can get lost on a trail.

Nice thread, Char - I'm enjoying it immensely - it's almost as if you were with us yesterday where we walked.

RRM,
What is the weather like in your part of the country.
We still have sunny and warm temps, very unusual for February. Should have the rain back this weekend. Then on to seed planting! It's getting green enough for DH to have to clear the fire roads of weeds (green weeds).
I'm very happy I don't have to cope with snow right now. Mud is bad enough! LOL!
Keep 'em coming when you can.

There is a couple of Large rocks down by the little creek to sit on.
I love it down there.
Hello Singing Wolf, the temp this morning is now 30 degrees. Supposed to get up to 60 this week end. We got the snow on Friday and Morning we got a good rain that washed it away.
Yes, mud is bad too. Snow is a pain sometime.
Thank you
RRM

i read somewhere that this person took raw potatoes and if they want a shrub would poke it in the potatoe. guess it would have the moisture alreaDY THERE and you wouldn't have to carry bottles or jars of water to keep them moist. It's getting warmer so we may be gardening before too long. but roadtrips are nice too.

LoL we must be !! We end up in all the same places!! With many of the same tools. Mesages come in funny ways. Dont they?
So anyway here it is...
My grandmother who I lost almost two years ago. She is not my grandmother by bloos but in all ways she was my grandmother. She raised her kids in the days when you were lucky to know what a car was much less own one!! She knew something about everything and everything about most things. Goah I love her!! SO anyway.. ramble ramble Robin...
I said to her one day , she asked what veggies I was going to grow this year. I told her and said and I am going to try potatoes this year my dad use to grow them and made us kids dig and hoe them wether we wanted to or not!! I'm going to try it this year. She says oh were are you getting your seed potato? I said what do you mean? She say well honey I think you will have to bye seed potatoes I dont think you can grow them from the eyes like we did they treat them and all that these days...I said oh I hope not. I have been saving the eyes for a bit now. Where are you saving them she says? Well I said let me think. I know I put them in the kitchen somewhere. It was a few days ago the last time I added to them so they cant have gone far. Well...I found them a bit later they grew up from under the pot full of soil that I had put into another empty pot. Not only did they grow the were like Brug leaves that my brug used to have big...It was still Feb..what was I going to do with them now? Hmm...well took them from that pot to a bigger pot...yep I did... Grew so fast They were ready to flower by the time I could plant them outside they had split the bucket I was growing them in...had to plant the bucket, Great bag of potatoes when they were done though. Best crop of the season actually we had no growing season to speak of last year..but I got a pot full of new dug Maine potatoes...Nothin like um!!

You can plant them in a small trash can and as they grow just put more potting soil on them. when they grow some more just keep adding soil and pretty soon you are going to have a can full of taters. Be sure to drill drainage holes in that Trashcan too.

Yes that works because you only put a small amount in to start and they grow up and the taters down so you add more soil as needed by the end of the season the can is full and there is a bushel bag of taters!!

I see I'm not the only one who never sleeps! I want to try the taters in a trash can this year. We'll see. I don't seem to have enough time for my life. Ever have that problem? 6 weeks until I can plant outside without danger of frost. Do I have my seeds started? NO Do I have last years old stuff cleaned up? NO Do I have my lasagna beds built? NO Have I transplanted my roses, hydrangeas. NO What kind of gardener am I? I think I'm a Dave's gardener. LOL

Warm this weekend... maybe just maybe! LOL

Still walking with you RRM. Love your cedar tree. I have a small one someone must have planted when it was very small. It's in an odd place. My mom hid treasures in an old cedar tree when she was a little girl on the family farm. We went and found them one summer. Pretty cool.

I got alltell internet and where my computer is sitting, it won't pick up the signal- or wouldn't but for some reason it did today so I'm trying to get some of my info out while I have access, it could go off at any time till I can get the room rearranged. I apologize everyone for this mess, I had no idea it would be like this. The day the internet went out cought me by surprise and all my info was still inside here. Without service I couldn't get to it.
So HELLO everyone, Mojitos and turkey sammiches to all and big hugs and apples for my Charlie. I have sure missed you all and I'll get this fixed as soon as I can. Love you guys.
