Ok, I started reading the winter sowing site and now I wish I had saved my hosta seeds...and I also know what to do with all these empty milk jugs I have around here! So tomorrow the hollyhocks go into the soil! Now I am really excited!
Hey all.. Hope you are had a great weekend..Things were busy here..Lots of running around, but not alot of work accomplished...Wow only 49 days left till spring... Time is flying by already...I have 29 containers winter sown.. Some are smaller containers for seeds that I only had a few of each.. I have sprouts up in several of them..I think I need to move them where they dont get such full sun as they do on the South side of the house.. Thats the only place they are hidden from view tho..I want to put them up on the deck but i can hear Dh complaining already, so I guess until it gets really hot I wont worry about them to much..I need to get some more soil, there is so many other things I want to get started...Its supposed to be warmer tomorrow so maybe I can get started on cleaning out a flower bed up front to add my babies to and start planning to add a few more..DH will love to hear that im sure. lol Im going to look you guys up on facebook.. I dont know much about using that site tho..I'm just now learning to use this one.. Trish
Jar - nice article - the only thing I noticed is you did not mention ventilation. Either leaving the cap off or cutting holes at the top of container. Great job! Who do you write for?
Mornin' everyone - still no work for me today. The side roads are so bad here Mike says I have no business out in the big truck. I'll show him, I think I will go to Lowes and Atwoods today. (Atwoods is our local farm and ranch store.) I need a new bird feeder and a "few" other things. That ought to get me in trouble.
Really looking forward to spring - can't wait to have things growing outside!!
Hi.. Hope the sun is shining for you all...Overcast here and still cold today..Thats no excuse I still should be outside working, but instead im sitting here all snug and warm still in my robe by the fire..
I enjoyed reading your blog julie..I think you did a nice job with it..
Only thing I have blooming right now is my camelia bush..
Hey!!! I got this really neat package in the mail today...with some, uhm, some...well it's green and it's got bulbs on the bottom and it's a ...uhm...RRM what is this? I know it goes in a bog garden but that is all I know...at least I think it does...
And I love this bracelet...I have it on right now...matches the silver jewelry I wear. Thank you so much and it fits perfectly! I love the beads you used too...Perfect Perfect Perfect!!! did I say thank you?
I am just so lost I haven't been on here forever. Hope all is well.
arejay I have facebook but don't use it, seem like I get lost and really confused with it. GD was the one to get me on there. You sent me something that had to do with the new explorer and I am not set up for that. Computer is to old :(((((((((( Sorry!
Silly girl. That is the plant you wanted for your BogGarden. That is theCP.
Got your peat yet? Put it in rain water, no rain water?? Melt some snow.
Remember now??? Dog gone, thought I was forgetful. Glad you like the bracelet.
Ok everyone I have a really big favor to ask...please... I am trying with this um less than perfect memory of mine to desifer the names I am so confused Rider, Mindy , Julie , Charleen. Will everyone put the real first name in their next post so I can figure out who is who on FB the names are all different and I need HELPPPPPPP
I don't think so, but would like to be. I havn't really learned how to use the facebook features that well yet. My niece had me sign up to get messages from her. Now I'm finding that I can do all kinds of things there.

Robin I'm Margaret Tucker on facebook but I'll go write on your wall and let you know for sure who I am.
Mary just copy Robin's email address she posted and paste it into search box after you login on FB and it will bring her up for you.
Jar that was a good article you wrote.
Checked on my trays this afternoon after not checking them since Friday afternoon and found one foxglove and one cosmos has sprouted for me. Sowed all my dianthus seeds today and left them out there under plastic. Was going to sow all my geraniums too but the dirt is froze solid pout. These are all in my plant room with just one heat lamp going to keep things from freezing to death.
Rides got my needles in the mail today a whole day earlier than I epected but I'm busy reading a good book so maybe tomorrow I'll make my mittens the correct size. Or maybe I'll wait on those and make the hat first I need it worse than the mittens.
Hi All !
My name is Michele. On DG I've been going along as "Chelle" to keep things less confusing. flowerfantasy "friended" me here at DG a week ago when I became a member. Not for certain sure but I think she invited me to jine up with ya'll. You all can read a little bio about me on welcome mat forum if you are interested. I have been "listening" to you folks for the past week while I tried to find my way, already like yous guys a lot. Wouln't mind jawin with you now and again.
It was a fairly pleasant 20 or so degrees when I took a stroll around my gardens today. We've had a mild winter so far, not much drying wind, everything looks pretty good and I am happy!!!!!!
Littlenettie - COME BACK. There is nothing strange here except - well - me for one.
Chelle - good to have ya - kick back, relax - have a mojito - (we can't have mojitos, Mekos disappeared and we have no bartender)
32 here, flippin' snow still everywhere - it was pretty for a day or two, now it is just a yucky, sloshy mess and I am rather sick of it already. I want green stuff - maybe the moisture will bring my daffodils up. I have some hyacinth out there too, I hope they all come up SOON - how many days Jar???
Did anyone ever call Mekos? Dear Lord, watch over her...and the jailers. LOL
Im sure Jan has internet whoas still ,remember she talked about having to wait for new service...
Jar how many days?????
Littlenettie are you here there is something wrong on this thread alright have you read some of the things we all write????
We are like burdocks dont slow down when you go by or we stick to you.
Hi all my facebook is huneybunch_2000 lol im so original huh the name on the account is Patricia Spaulding.. Please invite me to be your friend, other wise I may never find you ...
Littlenettie.. You dont cause trouble what are you talking about? We are all here as friends.. Were glad to have you on friends list.. I doubt you can upset one of us to much unless you told us something like I had a box full of seeds I just dumped in the trash, or plants I threw away.. Then we might get upset... Other than that lets all just have fun, and dont waste your time worrying over every lil thing ..Worry over the big things and just enjoy what ever time you can find to spend with us here..This is my worry free zone .. Relaxing time when I cant be in the garden...Hugs to all.. Dont forget to add me pleaseeee...
Hi Nettie I though we were gonna have to chase you down in the garden and rustle you back home!! Good to see you. Jar...47 days can you count just a little faster maybe? How about we meet half way make it 23 1/2?
Debie who is Debie?
I asked my daughter to count to 100 when she was first learning and getting ready for kindergarten...she giggled (which is always trouble) and said in her sweetest little voice... "1, 2, skip a few 100! did I do it momma?" So in response...I am counting as fast as I legally can!!!!!!!! but you know, if you get a heat lamp and some halogen lights...add a few grains of sand...a CD with the ocean playing in the background...you could fake it for a couple of days! Just don't fall asleep...nothing like a sunburn first day of spring!! lmbo!!!
That is so funny Jar my daughter said the same thing...That was a great idea that is my new to do list...Lights ,Sand, ocean cd...Im gonna wear my favorite sandels and plant seeds. I know it will bring spring faster(even if only in my mind)!! Thanks Jar
marti, the ground hog didn't see his shadow here this morning, Just can't figure out why in that part of the country he always sees his shadow when the sun isn't shining here ???????? Does that mean you alll are having the 6 more weeks of bad weather and we get spring very soon ? :)))))))))))))))))
Come to think of it that's what I should be doing right now, building a CAGE to grow my greenie beanies in...the wee little bunnies always like to have their litters right in the middle of my veggie garden and they eat almost as much as the groudhogs do.
Just passing through on my way to the (stock) market. Had to show off my "Christmas" Amaryllis, which like me is running a little late. It has a beautiful apple blossum color so rare to see any kind of flowers this time of year. I'm doing some germination tests on all sorts of seeds. I've got some Scarlet Runner (magic beans) along with several of last years tomato seeds ready to go if anybody wants them. I'll type up a list tomarrow.
That is beautiful Al.. I have a couple of those growing in the yard...I didnt buy any for the house this year..W/mart had some but they looked like they had been in the box forever so I let them keep'em...Here is a pic of one of mine in bloom, was a single bloom..Hope you all have a beautiful day.. My DH is off today so we are going to town to get a few things then over to visit with my Dad for a while..
The Amaryllis bulb I grew this year came from a garden specialty shop. It was huge, about grapefruit size when I bought it. Actually grew two stems and total of eight blossums, a real beauty.
Okay TOMATO LOVERS, here's my stash, all in small packs of 20+ seeds each. You Southern Girls can have first choice since you're likely to start planting them soon, but there's plenty for everybody, that is if you're nice to me. I'm also starting some "New Yorker" (Gramp's favorite) tomatoes as plants ready around May 1st for transplant, but that will come later.
Tomato seeds available now:
Bush Beefsteak (5)
Jubilee Orange (1)
Roma VF (7)
Rutgers Jersey (8)
Starfire Improved (6)
Contact my D-Mail if you need any of these, I'll send them right out!
It was not, but I never know. donkeys can be mighty contrary.
My Farrier and I are getting them better with every trim.
Their hooves are doing better with every trip. He says when he gets them right I shouldn't have to have them trimmed but every three month, they will trim theirselves down. Now, Charley, he is a mule and Half horse so we need to see him every 8 weeks or so.
But Charley is an easy job. If I get out there and tie them up before he gets here. There is no problem
RRM - thought you had all mules. I have just one horse now, but I suppose I should discuss her on another forum, I'm not too sure about all of this yet.
I am going to root some more common pussy willows as soon as I notice buds swelling if anyone wants some let me know. I think they make such a nicely shaped bush, but they can take up some space. Next time I take a walk around the lake I will take a pic of my favorite to share with you all. The deer rubbed it when it was little and it seperated in the middle to make a little sitting area, so nice to sit there and gaze at the water!
marti - I haven't a clue yet how to do mialings, tradings or any of that yet. I still have some researching to do to find out how. If you would like to Dmail me I will let you know when I know how and when they are ready. Put in the Dmail subject pussy willows so I don't forget o.k.?
jar - I'm going to address this photo to you, cause you were so nice to post the Picture Dog link for me the other day, but everyone may get a little chuckle out of this one. Can you find the gardener(me)?
If you go to the Plant Trading Forum there is a lot of good info on trading and packing and all that good stuff. Lots of us here have traded and sent things, seeds and plants, so ask away if you have questions. Seray has some of the best packing I've seen;o) And mamajack...
HI Everyone snow's melting but supposed to get more stuff like freezing rain, sleet and snow this weekend.
Chelle here you can discuss just about whatever you like we don't mind. So if you want to talk about your horse go right ahead. Only requrement will be a picture of it LOL we like pictures of just about everything.
Finished the doll bag holder enough to take a picture have to hunt up my glue sticks to do the finishing stuff to keep things on like the hat.
I have pussy willows too they are easy to trade and send. You dont have to wait for the pussy fott to show. If you can identify them they will root easily in a jar of water!! Just snip wrap the ends with a moist paper towel and a few wraps of a baggieor I like the good saran wrap I cant think of the name of it. Then pack it up and ship it out. I keep a jar of it all simmer rooting as it is a willow and helps other plants to take root!! Just like my willow tree cuttings great stuff!!
PS Poetry any one writing any?
Thanks Al. It seems I've got a bunch and I love to share !
Mindy - (that'll be an easy name to remember)(Horse shares it)
You're pretty darn handy ! Uhhm with crochet needles, did I get it right?
Is the doll for holding plastic grocery bags? Whatever she's for she sure is beautiful.
O.K. Here's my Mindy, she is half Arabian, half Missouri Foxtrotter. Her fancy name is Mindallia Savannah, fits her I think even though I didn't name her.
I don't have a scanner so this is a pic of a pic, best I can do!
(I am not gonna let you see her for the 1st time in all her winter fur, she looks like a goat!)
LOL Chelle nice horse Mindy is actually my oldest dog's name it's just easier for everyone to remember and spell.
Yep handy with crochet hooks in this case I also knit which was the mittens posted somewhere above. Yep, she's for holding grocery bags and is my second one have one more to make and next one is going to have a cherry red dress white apron and arms and I'm debating on adding blue trim for a red white and blue one. Be soooo happy to get the third one done I find the pattern boring but it was an order I'm getting paid for sooo I'm gritting my teeth and making them.
ok ladies im gona plant some stuff, gota get out of here, ok so im not real bright can,t help that i was born this way. gona plant some seed in greenhouse minnie morning glory in hanging baskets, some other stuff ive let go. its do it now or forget it. wonder if i could get by with moveing some pennies the white are getting very thick? anyone know the answer to that. hugs nettie
Hi littlenettie - nice to "meet" you. I love morning glories, I plant them every year!
As to your other question I am in such a different zone than you are that I can't answer the question about your peonies. Maybe someone in the same area as you can answer it?
Thanks for the invite to post my horsie's pic, she loves attention anyway she can get it!
(I will tell her she is a star tomorrow morning when I do chores)
Might turn in now,... but the house is quiet, everyone else is sleeping and here sits this lonely computer...hmmm...
arjay has nothing to do with luck, people around here call it crazy. but im going to do it anyway. hope none of my neihgbors come by and catch me out side. i once got caught on top of the house in my shortie pj. the chimny caught on fife and someone had to put it out. the school buss went by and half the neighbors were going to work so most everyone in the county know im not playing with a full deck. i think the bed is calling my name. hugs and good night.
Free boxes at the post office or go to click and ship [HYPERLINK@sss-web.usps.com]
they will deliver them free too and you can get your postage right in the same place and it is cheaper...flat rate boxes...
I love the doll Mindy. She is really cute. I can relate to the horror flicks with the dolls in them..My uncles used to hold me down and try to force my eyes open to watch some of those crazy old movies...Why does everything seem spookier in black and white?
Wow, she sure is a pretty horse KC...oh and the "Floating Hat in Trees" trick rates right up there with those old movies! but the garden is lovely! So who is the little tyke?
I have a poem or two for you Arejay...will get on that tomorrow. (or today since you won't be reading this til then! lol)
Sleeping Beauty is my son K.C. - He's 4 now so a little less round faced but I just put that up because it was a pretty good indicator of how I felt right then, only I was half slumped over the computer !!
Mornin' all! Rotten baby off to daycare so grandma can get something done today. Semi blew a head gasket yesterday so I am off until Monday.
Snowing here again this am 33 outside so maybe it wont stick - last weeks snow hasn't all melted yet. We sure needed the moisture, the wheat around here was looking sickly but holy cow, did we have to get it all at one time.
Who has pussy willow? I would really like to have one of those. We had one when I was little - living next door to Mrs. Edwards - I would spend hours out there "petting" the tree. Occasionally, when mom wasn't looking, I would pluck one or two of the nubs to play with. That was the coolest tree!
My poor WS containers are burried in the snow - hope they like it cold.
Gotta paint the rest of the bathroom today - about tired of working in there!
littlenettie to answer your question about the peonies you don't want to transplant them until late Sept or early Oct. They are very chosy about things and if you aren't careful you will lose them. They are also very hard to dig if they have been in the ground for any length of time. Just little buggers.
Mindy your doll is so cute. I got 5 pair of haouse slippers made and am working on the most beautiful scarf. Just about got it finished, Then I am going to try my hand at some cotton dish cloths.
I wont be able to get to the pussy willows for maybe a month yet. Too much snow still but if anyone needs still by then dmail me.
Flower show me your houseslippers!! Did you tell me you could make that stuff too?
Goodmorning all.. beautiful horse and very handsome young man there kc_mom, and the garden shot is nice too...Funny to see just your hat floating above the tree limbs..
Mindy the doll bag holder is darling..You ladies sure are talented...
I would love to have a cutting from one of those pussy willow tree also when the weather gets a lil warmer and one of you ladies can get to yours...Ive been thinking of ordering me one and a weeping willow tree also...I see they have a gold w/willow tree now I bet that thing is pretty also..They say the weeping willow is easy to start also.. I just need to find one on the side ofthe road, I'll get a piece of it and see...
Endi sorry your semi messed up but maybe a few days off will be good for you(not money wise i understand)..Hope you get your painting all done..I bet those WS containers are loving that snow..When spring comes I bet they are full of sprouts..
Nettie I think you need to make you one of the Mrs Edward dolls like Endi is creating for the neighbors..Raise the dress up over one corner of its buttocks and put a big set of red lips prints on it..I might even be tempted to put a "Kiss This" sign under it.. lol to bad I dont have any neighbors to fix up...
Its raining here today ughh..I guess I could be cleaning house but that really sounds like no fun to me...Im out of potting soil so I cant make any more WS containers till I go to town tomorrow..DH is working 12 hour graveyard shift tonight so I have to be quiet(means no house work),I cant cook because the smell of food wakes him right up..I guess I'll be forced to just sit here and play online most of the day, if the clouds and the rain dont interfere with my internet connection..Hope you all have a wonderful day..
Hey, huney_bunch, Littlenettie, Kcs_mom, Enid, FF, arejay, jar and anyone else I have forgot.
Good Morning to you all. Cloudy here this AM and 43 Degrees. So It not bad temp. Going to rain, but that's o.k. Know I need to do somethings in the house, much as I don't want too...☺ Loved the little doll Mindy, The bay and the horse are precious Kc.
Enid, you know you need a rest from driving.
If you have an extra Pussy willow , I'll take one. I have a Corkscrew willow if anyone wants a start. They root easy too.
Have a great day everyone.
RRM - I hope you haven't gone out to cut that corkscrew willow yet - I want some please, please! I was going to buy one this year but if you already have it - saves me a little money. You know if I can remember how to use the postal system - I will eventually send you something in return.
Nope Loca it's not the $$$ that's talking it's the reason the lady wants the darn things. They have a gift shop at an old mill that was used in the one of the wars (Battle of Mill Springs) all the money they make there goes to keep the old mill in mint condition and running. You can buy stone ground cornmeal there when they are open and watch them grind the meal at certain times.
May I ask for some pussy willow and the corkscrew willow pretty please.
Yep, Robin Flower can crochet up a storm she's just getting back into it since I been showing all that stuff here even has her sister doing it just as much.
ok flowers im takeing your adv. won,t dig. can,t anyway rained all night lo bad day. waiting for puter nut son to wake up so he can help me with this thing . my darling cuz.had to call me about that pet hog again, they gave the doctor who birthed me her pet hog she will never let that go. she said she could never understand how they could give her pet hog away for such a ugly bald headed baby she is evil woman.i have to love her cause she is family. she is old i keep thinking her memory will start to go lo didn,t say that.
Got up off my duff and took a walk around the lake. Kind of gloomy,(go figure) but the fresh air was nice. Saw a cock pheasant but of course the camera had shut itself off by then so no pic, have to get a real camera again soon.
Here's the pic of my sitting spot pussy willow, this is the baby, must be 20' tall.
The deer have been redesigning it again, you may be able to see the rubbings.
The following pic will be the footprint of who I assume has been decorating the shrub.
littlenettie - I have never been to your state before, but I am looking forward to visiting soon. My uncle owns a cave close to the middle of the state. He and his wife operate it for tourists. They have sent some awesome pictures of what their area looks like, and I can't wait to see it.
arejay if you were talking about the pig thing its true. got to the point it don,t bother me any more. just go with the flow. have one or those delayed birth cert. when you start school you have to have one you know. oh the things i could tell but don,t. got to go clean the kitchen and empty dishwasher so i can fill her up again.
well while i was off line for so long, this is my new hobby, macrame hanging baskets kinda hard to make it out been just trying different ways of doing it this one was the longest made about a dozen easy ones when boredom sets in you seem to find things to keep you occupied.
well just wanted to share this kinda hard to make it out
arejay - I guess the people who are "into" caves are called spelunkers. They like to check out rock formations, evolution of cave dwelling fish and animals, and how the caves were made by the passage of water over time. The coolest thing I've ever heard about caves is that there are fish who have evolved out of using eyesight because they don't ever see any light. I read this in a novel so I'm not sure if it's true, take it with a grain of salt. :) I read this story when I was 12 so...?
Some people come to the caves to pan for gold & semi-precious gems.
I prefer the outside world myself.
blondhavmofun - I used to make macrame' plant hangers too, have fun with it!
I used to live an hour north of you, I sure do miss it. Never had orchids though, your's is beautiful. Thanks for the welcome!
Sorry to be such an alarmist. Long week. I was surprised to see my DG profile on google. I thought the subscription fee covered privacy issues. There is a Turkish volleyball player named Seray. Much better legs than mine. LOL Where is that Mekos in dire need of Newbie mojitio! LOL
I have an email to Terry and am waiting for a reply. She says it's been their policy and that you can opt out. Funny I never heard it or understood it maybe. Also not sure who "They" are she is referring since the site's been sold. I'll send you a mojito Al brave man. I was afraid to read my life history. LOL
Give me the tequila...I just found sites I haven't visited in 5 years!!!! OMGoodness!!
The opt out feature is for when it was owned by Networks or whatever their name was. This is not IB that you are opting out of. And to opt out, you have to lower your security level on your internet options to enable cookies. Once you opt out, then raise your security level back up. The safest way to do this is by closing every window that is open, lowering your security level, opting out, and then raising your security level back up to normal. Then you can safely open any new windows without the threat of spam or other things attacking your computer.
Blondie, I really like that hanger. The colors are great for that style of hanger!
arejay yes I make that stuff too , love crocheting and I have already given the slippers away and can't get pics Sorry. I do have a scarf that I just finished and will try to get a pic of it for you later.
Some of us were upset because our screen names, and placement on Dave's Garden, were somehow picked up by Google. Since I use the same screen name on several different sites, they will all easily cross reference in Google. I'm told that you can sort out the information you want seen or hidden and make changes but I'm not quite into that just yet. You can check yours and see for yourself.
now al i was thinking about giveing them more to talk about you know good stuff.some people love to talk.my problem is what to put on here im a boring person wouldn,t be a very good story. oh well thats the story of my life in a nut shell.need warm clothes on so i can go mud some plants out. nettie
Good morning folks... Try logging out of Dave's and then google your DG name. You should not see any hits on DG for forums that are "private", aka subscriber only. If you posted on "open" aka public forums Google may pull up info...
Hi All, Have a huge request for all my friends. A friend of mine in ID has a daughter that is missing. If all could just pray for her please, and keep an eye out for the girls, I would be very grateful. Here is the info:
AMBER ALERT!! Missing 2 15 year old girls, Hispanic and Native American, missing from Firth Idaho since Feb. 4, 2010. Both approximately 5'9", slim build, dark hair and eyes. May be hitchhiking by semi truck. Please pass along to all your truck driver friends and all those of you on the road. If seen, please call Bingham County Sheriff's Office at 208-479-2607 or 208-785-1234.
Jazz, my friends daughter, was last seen wearing a turquoise sweater, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes. The 2 girls took no food, money, or extra clothes with them. My friend, Lea, of course, is worried sick. Lea was diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2006, and is divorced from Jazz's father. Jazz has had a hard time with everything since then. She was staying with her father, and they had a huge fight, and she left. She is a very lost and confused girl right now. Please, just keep an eye out for them and keep them in your prayers. Thanks!
Can you get me a pic of the girls - we could post it in the truck stop here and possibly get it out to OKC and Tulsa as well. The truckers I hang with and we can get info out really fast if I have more info to give them.
hey kcs, where in florida did you live? all my other orchids didnt do to good i was surprized they bloomed.
hey jar, thanks
hey skellog, well all my prayers for a safe return are with your friend please get a picture.
i have to tell you all about my wonderful day, it started at 2 00 this morning when the neighbors dog woke me barking(outside my bedroom window) all the rest of the night i wanted to kill him, then 530 am got a phone call, this guy my husband has been trying to get a job with called and wanted him to come to work. yippee finally,, well got on the highway and my spare tire ripped the tread off and no cell phone to call for help, and to drive 20 mile an hour home to get a new tire, luckily we had a truck with the same tires (brand new ones at that) only that they have been sitting on the truck for 4 years lol, they were still good, now for the good part, DH thought he lost his chance, called and the man said come on out, well, we get going again and on the same bridge, same spot the other tire pops, well, 2 tires down, luckily his brother was going by the opposite direction to pick him up(he took the keys with him too), my son and i sat there for over an hour just laughing, then our road rangers(for those who dont have them they come help out the helpless on the side of the road, change a tire give gas what ever) stopped, and my DH came with 2 tires, he pulled them out of my sisterinlaws truck and one rolled right into the drainage ditch LOL i had to pee sooooo bad i almost went in my pants. we got back on the road and a little ways down we heard what sounded like another flat tire, phew, just the first tire tore the plastic up and it got stuck on the tire, oh my gosh, well, i took my son to work (and they didnt have his pay check and wont have it until tuesday, how they could have everyone elses and not his hmmm this company is going down hill.
so needless to say he quit. which sucks for him, i kinda dont blame him since this is the second time they have done this too him). well, left him at work to go pick up the DH, and on the way to get him at 330 traffic sucked an emergency came over the radio tornados in his area, and i am 30 plus minutes away, i get there and he had been waiting for over and hour in the rain LOL
so if you think you have had a bad day, mine really was bad until on the way home i decided to stop for dinner since i didnt have time to eat, this buffet, oh my goodness i was in heaven, they had shrimp of all types, coconut, fried, steamed, buttered you name it, crab legs, roast, salad bar to no end, oysters in the half shell, steamed clams, mussels, and was only 9 a person i was in heaven never ate sooo much.
i know it is alot to read but i thought you all might need a good laugh cause that is all i could do
blondie - nice ending to a rough day! If you have extra purple orchids pop up you know I'll take one - lol. I'm trying to convince DH and myself that I need a pond and maybe, just maybe, I'll have a secluded spot to plant them outside. Still waiting on those buds to open on the pink. They sure take their sweet 'ol time...
Oh my gosh blondie what a crazy day. Were there actually tornados there? Did your DH get the work? Hope so!
You have made me green with envy over the yummy seafood you have eaten. We don't get good stuff up here.
Hi all, I think everyone should be looking, or at least have the info available, so if any of you can post where ever, it would be great. I attached a pic of Jazmine. OK, I have NEVER claimed to be a computer whiz, but just wondering how all of you have found each other on facebook? Apparently, all our info is available for everyone to see, esp. on Google, but I am NOT smart enough to find any of you on facebook> LOL I would love to include you as friends, but I guess you will all just have to find me instead. ;-)
Skell, I posted the alert and the picture of Jazzy on my Facebook page also. I do hope they find those girls...they are the same age as my middle daughter...I would die if something ever happened to her.
Thanks arejay! For everything! I will have Lea go online and answer all the questions, as I don't have all the answers either! Also, am dm'ing you with my email addie! Thanks! Night, chelle! Dream of spring flowers coming up, as we just got another 4 inches of snow, so am thinking it will be awhile! Maybe by June! lol
WOOHOO!!! The 2 missing girls have been found. They are in custody right now, don't have any details, but thank you all for all the prayers and best wishes! It worked! They are safe! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
skellog - What joyful news to start the day! Soooo happy they are safe! Also hoping that someone makes sure that they are scared enough to never run again! I ran when I was a kid, had a very bad experience, perish the thought of any other innocents going through what I did!
Ah, a fresh new day - not pretty, just fresh I guess. Gloomy and 34 here - baby home, daddy gone to quiz bowl meet out of town - lucky gma - home alone with 1 year old. Bet I get a lot done today - keeping baby out of dog food, cat poop and all other goodies is a full time job. LOL I love him but dang babies are a lot of work - I really think I would rather dig a hole! God must know what He is doing, giving me this little one to look after - but dang, don't He ealize I am old?
My black eyed susan vines are still lookin good - hope they don't take over the bathroom before April 15! Oh, and I have one cinnamon vine coming up, finally - thought I had killed them for sure. Now if the silly begonias will come up I will be in good shape. I only got two Lupines out of 25 to sprout in the house so far. Is that normal, are they hard to start or did I mess something up?
Gotta go, baby is on the loose and the dog is a horrible babysitter.
Enid that sounds like me talking...There was a baby here last night . 18 months. I am definitely not baby proofed anymore...His Mother was with him thank goodness I think Mothers do things different these days!!

You heard jar, ladies. Only 42 days. Right. I'll be happy if we see spring here in 42 days, but I really think it will be closer to 82 days! lol We tend to look at Ground hog's Day a little different here. When they say 6 more weeks of winter, we get ecstatic, hoping it ends in 6 weeks, rather than being sad because it won't end for 6 weeks! lol
great news skellogg, hope they got a good scare and wont think of that again..
hey loca, guess what i have in my garden hmmmmm, well i worked in it all day raking the leaves, which was a loosing battle since we are having mighty strong winds and leaves fall as fast as i rake them, anyways a bunch of grape orchids are coming up they all have blooms so i will have to wait, but i will send you a couple.

I'll be glad to give some of those purple babies a new home blondie - lol. Your yard doesn't look too bad for winter time. Your yard looks huge!
Hope you all are having a great day. Sprinkling in the desert - yeah! Drove to Mesa today to visit a fellow DGer and her beautiful yard. Getting ideas for my own - lol. She and her DH are really talented with concrete and faux rock - it's amazing. If you all are on the other site she has a crafty site - it will be cool!

Yes Robin I'm still checking zone 6 not sure if anyone is checking 7 and 8 and Cue's zones since Mechelle and Cue aren't on here much. Maybe Flower is doing those. Had one newbie last month and told her to send in her envie got a thank you for the headsup from that one. No new ones since then.
Does anyone have Mekos phone number? I want to call her to say thank you. D mail me if you have it. Thanks
Wow...I am feeling like a ping pong ball here!!! But things are moving nicely...I finally figured out what I have to do to visit everyone here, stop in at the cafe, and still work...SHUT IT OFF!!! lol...I am writing an article and rewarding myself by reading and posting...then writing another article and rewarding myself...problem is I get caught up reading and checking everything out and researching plants and making wish lists and getting jealous because Blondie has sunshine in her picture and, and , and...so I am up at 3:35 am still writing my articles! lol
Have a great day...I preset the coffee pot so it should be done brewing and nice and hot when you all wake up. Fresh fruit cut up in the fridge for you all too...
I'm sticking with DG until something runs me off - lol. The other site is cool as well, but it's not DG. My time will mostly be spent here with time there as I can.
Al - I think we can think of it as Plan B, just in case we all need to find each other if something happens to DG. Even though I think I have a way to contact most all of you or someone I know does, so we'll be a-ok!
hi al you are among friends where ever you are. dg people, oh my im comming down with something promise not to spread it around . if i could change the world i sure would but i can,t. i tried to it didn,t work so i just pray. thats it in a nut shell. now on to my seed just got them late in the afternoon but im excited, some things in there ive never had before think this will be fun. just had say thanks again. nettie
My subscription is up in May. I plan on renewing. I enjoy talking to everyone here. I can talk in lots of places some more hectic than others. The resources are here for my interest in Gardening. I will be sending seeds in for Newbies just like always. Newbies will come here and it's fun and rewarding to help them get started. I won't be discussing my business here there are other sites for that. Just quiet relaxing chit chat about two of my favorite subjects, you and gardening.
Are we to keep our conversations here strictly for gardening? I get off topic ALOT! I garden around my life, kinda all goes together for me. Today the baby ate his first sphagnum moss - I just hope there isn't some wierd fungus on it! This spring it will be dog poop and dirt so guess he better get used to it! Gardening is hard on babies but he is gonna have to be out there.
Has anyone tried growing potatoes in a trash bag? I have some of those really big, tough contractor bags and wondered how they would do.
Lori - You can grow potatoes in just about anything big enough to hold them. The problem would be finding bags strong enough to hold the soil for any length of time before breaking. I've grown them in 5 gallon plastic recycle pails as a 4H project and also half wine barrels with great success. Would think that any fairly large container would work fine. Like any large plant they have to be kept well watered. Maybe you could double or triple up the bags to make them stronger.
This is a picture of an artichoke flower. I grew several in Calif. mostly for the flowers. But I usually ate 1 or 2 of the larger artichokes. The artichoke that you eat is actually the bud of the flower. They do not like cold. But I did grow one in Bakersfield, which can get down in the teens some winters. I had it in a protected area so it did well.
Marti that is beautiful..I never thought about growing artichokes how long a season do they need?
Come over to the new chat thread everyone else is over there I posted it this morning this one was long here is the link http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1074535/
