I'm not trying to be nosey but I'm wondering when one of you says your a small grower, How much land do you mean? Its only been in the last couple of years that I have done this for profit, before I just gave away the extras. However, with the economy and the food scares I moved growing to a larger scale and started advertising and such. Right now I have a large main garden and this fall I added a 171/2 X 25 greens garden. During the heat of the Texas summer there will be other plants not greens in that area.
I also plant veggie plants wherever when I run out of room in the garden. We don't have a local Farmers Market that has gone very well but people know me and buy from me by word of mouth, Local Harvest, and I sell to a couple local resturants.
To grow anything around here you have to use raised beds or bring in top soil. I have a couple of places I could turn into gardens that would be easier then expanding my current garden. I have 8 acres but my livestock gets 4 of them and I need to be realistic before I venture too far improving the dirt.
