Marilyn and I were planning on going up just for the day. I can go on the 24th but I can't on May 1. I'm involved in the Little Rock Spring Garden Tour and it is being held May 1 and 2. I'm in charge of box lunches for May 1.
Kim I'm not possitive I can spend the night down there like last year. it may just have to be a one day thing for me also. would this create a problem wtih you? would you be able to go just for the day too? we can still take my car and just come back that night.
I say we talk about it tomorrow at Marilyn's. I would love to go and spend the night if you want to Kim and if you don't want to stay the night KA. So I really need ya'll to talk it up tomorrow!! LOL!! Also talk up Jeri's and the garden tour and everything else that has to do with gardening! Remember ya'll, Dave is a gardener and does like this stuff.
LOL Kim, that's hilarious!! I'm so glad you get to do that KA! I haven't mentioned it to Dave, he forgot about the lunch from last night and tonight! He wants to keep working on the garden but he's so tired he can't hardly move. I told him he was going because he's going to hurt himself if he doesn't take some time away from it.
Melody, I just noticed that Adrian graduates the 12th of May (Can you believe that already?) which is just a little more than 2 wks from the date you guys are planning the gathering.
Edited to say that I will be going to Houston to see my sister Gail (her cancer is back) that month also since she doesn't have to teach some of that time. I haven't seen her since the last time she met us in Mt. View so I guess that will take the place of us heading to meet you guys. What a pity everything happens in May. Darn!
We have to work without hardly any sleep on those days, we start at 8am on the 22nd and don't stop until 5pm on the 23rd. They're really fun to work but by the time 5pm on Friday comes we are all wiped out and ready for bed, and it's not safe to drive when you're that tired.
--I was waiting on Terrye to say if she could go, Cindy might come up and go with us.
It is all still in the planning stage now, but I sure want to go, I was just waiting to see what Terrye said, she is such a good driver--LOL
Oh very very nice--lol--Terrye has something I have never had--a sense of direction, she can look at the directions to go somewhere once and make a zillion turns and still get there without looking again !!! I can get confused in a cardboard box about which way is up. I can look when the sun is shining and know North from South, but that is about it
I don't remember where you stayed, but I remember they got your room messed up and you got the royal treatment because it was messed up .
Ruth and Lamar stayed overnight, maybe she can remember where they stayed.
Ok you guys - my ears were burning. lol
You know I am in as long as I don't have any DGkids birthdays that day. I think we may do the Friday run too in the Memphis area if anyone is interested. Planning on doing Dabney's and maybe Goodwins that day. Dinner - friday nite somewhere close to the highway to Jackson.
Ruthie ---- pay attention here ---- we are doing a Friday, nursery run in Memphis !!!!!!!!!!--- and of course you are invited too, along with anyone else that plans on doing a 2 day trip that weekend.
Bonnie, is Goodwin's the one we went to when we went to "The Dip"?
We hit so many that day I can't remember.
Friday sounds great to me though I may have to beg, borrow and steal to get off that day... Leadership meetings (*&&*^%&^%) lol. It fell on the same day last year, but I am taking off all day this time.
Sandra, are you up for two days?
Ruth, we all saw the invitation this time so you get to come be with us! lol
LOL - Terrye
no - Goodwins is the one in the middle of Germantown - like you are going down a subdivision street and there is a quaint little nursery at the end of the street.
The one you are thinking about was when we went to Homesteads and went to that one . Thought about doing that too, but with Kim & KA not getting into town until about noon, we won't have time to do all that.
Sandra you are thinking of 4 Seasons. It is funny because we went to that big 4 Seasons in Jackson that did not have much and this little one here had everything. Don't have a pic of it, but here is one of The DIP LOL
Now I want a burger and onion rings.
yes, goodwinds had that peacock. and If I can get kim to meet me at 7:00 am we can be there around l0:00 what do you say kim? you'd have to leave yourhouse at 6:00 I know your not an early bird. I think we left later than that last year. it will have to be up to kim. on when we leave out friday. I'm an early bird, I can leave in the wee hours. it takes us 2 hrs to get to memphis, so what ever time it takes us to get from memphis to your house? i'm not quite sure of.
I'm going to borrow my DD's tom tom, If it gets me lost well, there's just not going to be any hope for me then.
How about 7:30 or 8:00? Since, Jeff (Did I ever tell y'all how Jeff got his name?) will be bringing me and he rarely gets up before 7:30...yada...yada...yada...but I may can swing him getting up at 6 or 6:30.
WEll, Kim and I will plan to leave SEarcy at 8:00 am friday morning. ok kim? it will take us 2 hrs to get to memphis, depending on how far memphis is from you Bonnie. we'll go where ever we have time to go on friday with you, Kim 's requested Dabneys, I don't care if we miss goodwinds I didn't know how close it was to dabneys. Definitely want to go to dabneys.
Just want to have fun with our garden friends. I feel specially privileged that I get to go with Kim and her hubby includes me on his bday present to his lovely wife. I guess I'm gonna have to make him some cinnamon rolls :0)
It's going to be so fun. Looks like a big crowd! I'm looking forward to it.
If you'll tell me the names of the other nurseries, I'll be happy to look them up and get their links here for your convenience. Go Gardening is an important resource as well, and we can thank these nurseries for being such gracious hosts to our unruly mob by telling the world what fun we had. It will really help them when people are planning a trip to some nurseries.
I have already left mine--would you want me to do it again?
I surely would recommend her over and over again, Rita treats everyone so nice when they visit her, she is never too busy to answer your questions, and she is definitely a very busy lady !!
You can add to a previous year's comment, which is quite helpful because repeat customers are always a good sign of a great business. It will be logged with the date, so that readers can see that it was a separate visit.
Yes, any place you've visited multiple times can be acknowledged. The system is designed to let you update any feedback. (You just cannot erase any, which is a safeguard for preventing abuse of the system)
You can even upload pictures in Go Gardening. Just make sure if you have friends in the pictures, they know, and don't mind, as Go Gardening isn't private like the forums. But images of the grounds and plants are always a plus. (even a picture of their sign adds to the page)
Um. I'm confused here. I once left feedback for a nursery, and it got erased because I Mentioned in the feedback that I purchased from the nursery and not on line, I was told that the watch dog was strictly for when you buy on line. This is why I've never left feedback for Rita because You can't buy from her nursery on line.
Go Gardening is for retail nurseries that you visit. Garden Watchdog is for mail order purchases. Rita has a page for both as she will sell her Rita's Gold fern by mail order.
Go Gardening and the Garden Watchdog are two different features. They are 'sisters', but one is for walk in traffic and the other is for mail order. Many vendors have listings in both, but if you've bought from them in person, use the Go Gardening page.
Is anybody wanting to do any trading? if so maybe we could start another thread for that. I'm not sure where we'll do our trading at, as in the past, it's been kind of up in the air about when and where we have traded our plants, we didn't want to do any trading at Rita's nursery.
I think we just traded out there on the parking lot didn't we??
It is still to early for me to offer anything here yet, but if I have something you know of that you want, we will see if it comes back !
I really would like to find the chocolate wings Rodgersia and maybe one or two other varieties. and I'm not searching but every time I go to Rita's I spend Lots of $$ on plants I can't seem to do without LOL
LIke that froho jasmine plant I bought there last year for l5.00 I think that froho is spelled wrong.
LOL it is isn't it, price is pretty too LOL I've found it at 2 places but both places are out of it, but the year is just beginning. I got several in a trade last year including this one but all died on me before I could get them into the ground. :0(
I haven't found it any lower than l7.00 or l8.00 and that's at bigdipperfarm and their out right now. but i'm watching like a mad woman . they have several varieties of Rodgersia they are in stock of the other varieties though. I have ordered from bigdipper before and they take time to ship out, but mainly because they wait till everything is in stock when you order, sometimes even though it says it's in stock, it's not really there yet. Chocolate flower farm has it for l8.00 also but their out too. i'm still searching other sites.
LOL, I was out side today looking over that huge table that has to be planted still and found 3 different varieties out there that I grew from seed last year, Who knew, a double yellow, and a winky blue and a green apple one. I guess I'm good to go on them I should have looked out there before I asked. I looked that table over really good today, had all kinds of stuff I didn't realize I had. Jeese. and we're going to buy more ! Aren't we gluttens LOL
KA - can you start a list at the top in the 1st thread, so we know who all is coming on Friday and who is coming on Saturday ? That way we know who all to plan on making the runs with us on Friday. I have gotten confused.
Guess then we can start figuring where all we can meet up on Friday morning. I know you and Kim will be coming to my house, then we will be going south to meet everyone else. We will also need to figure out a time too, I guess to meet.
I hope to be at Walmart in Searcy at 8:30 on Friday. Which will put us at Bonnie's between 10:30 and 11:00. We will be staying at the Days Inn, in Jackson. I am going to tell them that we will not arrive until late.
Kenny, I am not certain that many of my EEs survived in the ground due to the very cold days that we had. I have in the ground: illustris, black magic, pink china, red stem, miranda, black runner, black stem, cranberry, yellow splash, varigated wentii, macrorrhiza, lime zinger and big dipper. Some that I am looking for: black ruffles, chicago harlequin, nancy's revenge, tiger stripe (I may have one in a pot), a few alocasia and a couple xanthasoma but I will have to look up names. I can send you a list if you think you may have a couple that you can spare ;o)
Ok, I have a list on the first post, of who all is coming so far, I have a ? by a few of the names, do you guys know if your coming yet
Who all is coming on Friday besides me and Kim? anybody else I know Ruth and Lamar are going to bonnie's on Friday right? anybody else?
We're planning on eating out Friday night and celebrating Kim's birthday just like we did last year. And going to be hitting a couple nurseries , (dabneys for sure) and maybe one other one if we have time to on Friday.
n2birds, Thank you for thinking of me. I will hate to miss the trip because I was looking forward to it. I almost never commit to anything until I find out what grandkids are doing that we need to attend. This time of year we are overwhelmed with stuff that we need to do just to be good parents and grandparents. Have fun for me too, ok?
Elena, You will be missed. I was looking forward to meeting someone new at Rita's. We'll have lots of pics to share.
Yes, Kim, the day starts at around6:30 am. Good ness, you sleep half your life away LOL. Ok, 8:30 we leave Walmart, we should still be at Bonnies, by no later than 11:00 or 11:15 with the way I drive. he he.
I'll have Tom with us to give us Directions, and he better do a good job or I'll throw him out the window.
Kim, it is a good thing you don't ride with Terrye--she get up at 4am for everything !!!!
Of course I will be so excited to see everyone that I will be ready to get up too !
Cindy, Terrye and I, (maybe Judy) are going on to Jackson with you all to spend the night, Lamar is going to buy us all the free breakfast at the motel there !
Yep, you and her could 3 or 4 states away before Kim and I got up--LOL
I don't mind getting up early, when there is a reason too, but I sure hate to get up in the winter on all those cold days with nothing interesting to do !!
Ok - 11ish it is. :-( I was just hoping we could push it and go to Homestead too.
Sandra, Ruth, - we will just meet you guys at around 12:30 or so at Dabney's. Sharon - don't know which way would be better for you guys to come - all the way to my house or just meet us at Dabney's ?
Nancy Ann - I thought you were coming on Friday too. huh ?
and Molly - are you gonna try to come, at least on Saturday ? We'd love to meet you too.
Their both huge nurseries, Homestead is acres and acres of nursery, and Dabneys is huge also. I don't think their that close to each other either. If we get there by 11:00 we'd only have time to hit a small nursery close by Dabneys before they all closed for the day.
WE'd have to leave Walmart (Kim) by no later than 7:00 in order to hit both dabneys and homestead in the same day, we'd have to haul l BUTT to memphis , maybe it would be best for me and you to meet Bonnie at Dabneys also? we'll wait to hear from bonnie on that. Specially if we leave here at 8:30 it might be easier and faster to meet her at dabneys. and go to her house after the nursery run
If ya'll met her at Dabney's you should be able to make Homestead also. Homestead is about a 45 minute drive into Mississippi from there. If you decide to go to her house you probably would not have enough time because she live so far out.
We may not make it to Memphis on Fri, will just have to wait and see if this old body can stand 2 days of walking. We will come up and spend the night and go to Rita's Sat so will be there for Lamar to buy Sandra's breakfast!
SNOW??!! Way down there in Louisiana today? My daughter lives in NW Arkansas and they have at least 4-6 inches on the ground, maybe more, but it did not make it down here to my area, thank goodness! We have had rain most of the day and it is colder today but no snow.
Well, now I don't know what we should do. Maybe since Kim and KA aren't coming into town until mid-day, we could all go early to Homestead, then meet them at Dabney's around noonish ? Then go to maybe Quality, and Goodwins if we have time. Are we still planning on eating dinner out about the same place we did last year ? It is right there on I40 and would be easy for everyone to get on the highway and head straight out to Jackson. I don't know - somebody else chime in here. Maybe we should all make sure we pack a sack lunch so we won't waste time stopping to eat lunch and we could have a early dinner ? My mind is racing.
Boonie, that may be the easiest thing to do if everyone is wanting to go to Homestead. I imagine they open fairly early. We could meet there and then be back in Memphis by 11:00 to meet KA and Kim , eat lunch and then go on to the other nurseries. Like Sandra said I am an earlybird so leaving early doesn't bother me. Plus we don;t have as far to go so it wouldn't take up too long to get there. Maybe 1 1/2 hours.
I wish I knew if I was going to be able to make it!!!!!! I won't know til the very last minute, I'm sure, Dave changes his mind when the wind changes directions! I've never been and would LOVE to see ya'll again, and meet Rita's!
I just mainly want to see all you gardening buddies, too. After last Friday I don't need to spend any more money on plants because I am saving my money for the trip to Jeri's! :o)) Loretta D. and I will be riding over on Saturday with Charlotte and her friend from her Master Gardener group who wants to come along. Boy, is she in for a treat! I don't think she has any idea! LOL
Thanks Bonnie! How sweet! Yea, I'm going to have to talk him into going to Jeri's again also, more than likely he won't remember :)
My dad and his girlfriend are going to be visiting from tomorrow evening til sometime Sunday, so I won't be on much after they get here. I have a busy day tomorrow getting my car washed, I might go check on buying new tires, going grocery shopping, and cleaning up this office so Yvette can use the computer. We're going to have a really good time, I haven't seen my dad in about a 1 1/2 years, he lives in Joplin, MO. I can't wait!
What? Not be able to sneak through your flowerbeds and taking a cutting here and there (maybe even dig up a few things)? Not see the pond, water feature and all of the parasol trees? ;o) Oh yeah, and not see Paul's critters? Hmmm...I don't know if I can pass-up all of that! I will go anywhere that KA takes me!
Crissy, have a good time with your dad and his girlfriend this week-end!
Bonnie, I don't know about Gardens oyvey-- it is a long trip for us and we are doing it in one day so we might not have time to stop there. However, you will have to ask Charlotte--she is doing the driving. :o))
Not sure. But if we are coming, I can call them and they will probably let us come. I know they do their showers before sundown because they are on solar panels, so we'd need to make sure we were there before then. :-) However, I think typically - it is around 5:00. I really think you'd enjoy seeing their nursery Charlotte.
I'm back, and they left at about noon today. I'm beat! All that touristy stuff can get tiring, but they had a great time and that's all I was looking forward to. We had a blast, I have some pics but forgot to take a pic of my dad and Yvette together! We'll see what comes out of the cameras. (phone and good camera lol)
I'll post pics later, I'm just now getting caught up with myself.
Glad that you all had a nice visit Crissy. I know you are probably tired, but in a good way.
Cindy - please don't get all built up about seeing my yard. It is nothing, I promise --but we will have a good visit anyway. I will go on and dig up some parasol trees for you since they haven't started coming out yet.
Would you Friday folks be opposed to just coming to my house to eat, so we could just spend quality chatting time together ? We could celebrate Kim's birthday that nite too, then before it got too dark, you could head out to Jackson. It is easy to get to I40 from my house. Does not matter to me in the least. Guess Kim and KA would be the ones to say yay or nay.
Bonnie, you know I would love to go through your yard...I mean...come to your house for dinner. However, I don't want you to go to a lot of trouble. I am going to ask this (even though I know the answer is no), will you let me bring a dish or something? Or maybe, we could drive through or get pizza?! KA and I don't care if we do not make it to Jackson until 10 pm or later! Just as long as we get a little shut eye ;o)
All we are going to do at that hotel is drink cocacola and sleep LOL I don't mind eating at your house at all either. Sounds like fun. Let us know if we can help with anything. Not sure what i'd bring though LOL
went to dr yesterday and got 2 shots and 2 scrips and have to go back next wk so maybe I will soon get to feeling better. Said my left lung still have lots of infection that didn't clear up and if the meds didn't clear it up would have to go back to hospital and get drip!! Hope'g they will work and not have to go back in that place.
My list is made!! I want new ferns, coleus, EEs, Hostas (no surprise), supertunias and oxalis. When I first started planning, I had 10 pages! I slowly worked my way down to 3 pages. However, I found, I could make the list only one page if I made the letters tiny enough. lol Now, if I could shrink the plants to make more room in KA's car...
I don't have a list! I just have a whole bunch of pots I need to fill! I do want coleus and supertunias. I also use a lot of coleus in pots and other places. I have several really large pots that I would like to put some perennials in and add annuals for color during the summer. I'm looking for bright greens. I'm always looking for unusual plants. I need to make a list of the pots I have to fill and the size of the pots. I like to move the pots around in the summer to fill in where needed. Of course I have big ones that aways stay on the deck. Those are my priority! So all that said - I'm just gong with an open mind! That's kind of the way I shop.
I went to River Valley yesterday after my MG project and bought a Arnold Promise Witchhazel. I have a gap behind my deck where a big dog wood used to be. I wanted something that would be just above the azaleas and act as screen. As you may notice, I'm into screening off my back yard. I loved the shape of the tree and it needs some shade, has a yellow bloom in the early spring and the leaves are bright yellow in the fall. I think I'm gong to like it. Now to get it planted. I have it in position - just need to get a hole dug. I have a dog wood about 20 feet from where the old one was. It is a volunteer and is now a really nice size tree so I didn't want to get another dog wood.
You are like me Charlotte. I just get out there and buy what I like. Wish I was more like Kim, and could stick to my list. I have alot of pots that I need to fill too, so hopefully I can hold off until the trip to Rita's.
It is a 15 gallon tree. It fit in the back of my pick up truck by turning it sideways and tucking the branches in. Before we tucked the branches in it went past my tailgate. It is a really nice shape. It has a single trunk and then a big bunch of branches are just grouped together. It looks like it has been trained into that shape. So it is perfect for what I want. The trunk goes up through the azaleas and then the branches fan out above them. The azaleas will grow taller and the tree will grow taller also. I'm trying to hold out on my containers too!! Going to really talk to myself!!!
I'm making my list and checking it twice...got two expensive outings that week. Quilt show in Paducah is first and I always leave a chunk there, but have some specific needs for my containers too. (I'll hide my plant cash from myself...like that will work)
Get well soon, Ruth! As everybody has already said--we want to see you at Rita's!
Genna: Some of them are going over on Thursday, I think, and then spend time going to nurseries on Friday. On Sat. April 24th we are all going to meet at Rita's (Randolph's Nursery) in Jackson, TN. I am riding over on Saturday with Charlotte and a friend of hers and Loretta D from Batesville is going with us, too.
I'm just going along for the fun and fellowship (and food)! "I am not going to buy anything at Rita's, I am not going to buy anything at Rita's, I am not going to buy anything at Rita's!"---and that's the truth (maybe). Seriously, I bought 19 new plants when Charlotte, Kim, Kathy Ann and I went on our nursery hopping tour on March 19th. Plus Charlotte and Kathy Ann both gave me some plants so I should have plenty for awhile(until Jeri's RU). I want to buy a new TV and that will be my extra money for April so the quandary for me is: buy a new TV or spend money at Rita's? "I will not buy any plants at Rita's, I will not buy any plants at Rita's". . .maybe. LOLOL
LOL... I know what you mean! If it was me, I would choose plants over a tv any day though ! :) But then I don't watch much tv!! I stopped and dug up some daffodils on my way to my dr appt yesterday and didn't have enough daylight to get them in the ground last night when I got home - so I hope to accomplish that today!
I would love to go to Rita's but just don't see how I can swing that and a trip to Jeri's... maybe next year!
Someone will have to put handcuffs on the both of us if we are able to keep to that--you know Rita always has something that no one else has !! I usually go up there not needing anything and then I find out I DID need something when I get there !
If y'all want some perennial plugs, check out this link. This is Donna Vincent's website and she has plugs cheap. I am ordering 14 milkweed plugs from her. "Cat" down in Texas highly recommends these plugs--says she ordered a bunch and they arrived in good condition. You can order as few as 7 plugs. Cost for plugs is 17.97, which includes shipping charges. The more plugs you order, the cheaper per plug.
I think she is also on DG's marketplace but here is the link to her website: http://vincentgardens.com/PerennialPlugs.aspx
Those plugs remind me of when I started the hello yellow from seed last year , stuck these tiny plug size plants out in the ground and I was FOREVER moving cats off them to the other milkweeds , I didn't want them to kill the plug sized plants before they had a chance to grow out. the poor little plant was laid over on the ground cause there were several cats on one little 2 inch stalk eating it down to the stem. I hope it comes back this year. none of the milkweeds are up yet.
I had a bad experience with milkweed 2 summers ago, it got those creepy little white things all over them--my brain is not working yet this morning. They were so bad I finally pulled it up and threw it away.
Somebody tell me what I am trying to think of, this will bug me all day !
Ruth get well soon!! We don't want our Queen down!!!
I'm trying to figure out how to enlarge the cell phone pics so the picture can actually be seen... hhmm
Kim, here's pics of everything from my dad and his girlfriend, Yvette, here to the flowers and plants in my yard on 3-30-10. I'm going to get more pics today or tomorrow because things are growing like weeds!! And the plants in the pots are going to be taken out this weekend too, that's the project of the weekend! LOL
Thanks all the the kind words, this old body isn't doing good these days. I felt better a couple days but today not so good so don't so think maybe a few day in hospital will help give me the kick I need. Love you guys and thanks for thinking of me.
My Suddenlink internet has been down pretty much for the last 3 days. I would get online for maybe 5 minutes and then it would go down again. They were out here last night and again this morning working on their line. It appears to be working again now! Isn't it funny how we become accustomed to our electronic toys when we didn't even have them even 15 or twenty years ago!! (cell phones, internet, etc.)
This is the first thread I have checked out so I will go over and check the prayer thread to see how Ruth is doing. I pray she is better soon!
I am so glad you are feeling better! Allergies are no fun - but they have to be better than the pneumonia you were dealing with! Maybe you will get a nice rain and settle the pollen - it is BAD here! But the weather is beautiful... HARD to work with days like this!! :)
Just a little over 2 weeks and "let the shopping begin" !! Yipee !
I haven't gotten all my pots out and gathered up yet. Need to get busy and get them ready for all the pretties I am gonna get at Rita's !
Kim, good luck rescuing things from Bonnies. You may have to do like me and put your name on things for when she divides them this fall. Either that or distract her while I dig.
Bonnie I guess I am riding with you on Sat. so I will be ready when you come pick me up. LOL
Miss nosey - I believe he is referring to our trip to Ritas. lol you are such a goof !!!
Last year was the first year I have ever divided my hostas and poor Kenny didn't get any. :-(
(I'll never hear the end of it either) Guess we'll have to wait now since all the new ones I bought last year, I won't divide until, who knows when. lol. But Kim - you can have anything else you may can find out there !
Stop torturing me with all this talk about icecream and onion rings, a nd cheeseburgers, you have no idea how close I came to getting a wendys burger after work today! I was so good! but now I think i'm wanting one really bad LOL
Kathy Ann, a Wendy's is nothing to compare to this place--it is like an old time drive in where you order at the window and wait for the food--Bonnie took us there when Sharon got that monster burger, and we all got onion rings, then Bonnie and Kenny got a cone that was dipped in a chocolate shell----
Okay, y'all see that Bonnie said I was welcome to anything else...did you see that? She typed it! lol Y'all may not see me for dinner on Friday night, as I may still be in Bonnie's rescuing things. ;o))
I believe I only lost 1 or 2 hostas that you gave me last year, Bonnie, and they just happened to be 2 that Terrye "by mistake" (yeah right) took home. LOL I believe it was T. Rex and Dick Ward. No worries, I may find them at any or all of the nurseries that we visit on April 23-24.
I lost some hostas this winter too. I'm hoping some are just late coming up, like my Ice Age Trail!
Something also nested in some of my pots I had in cool storage and it looks like they tunneled through some of my EEs. Was not a good winter for some of my plants...
Alright y'all think of us if you stop at the Dip, Kenny. I can just smell those onion rings!
Kim - Dabney's does have T-rex, not sure about Dick Ward. I will see how DW looks as he comes up and see if it would be safe to dig you up an eye of him. My T-Rex only has 2 eyes so far, so I know I can't spare him this year. I tried to update some pics to my hosta journal last nite, and I still have alot of new ones that haven't even shown their "eyes" yet.
Kenny - if I were off tomorrow, I'd need to be weeding. I did a walk-about last nite, and clearly forgot about 1 area that is pitiful ! I'd be embarrassed if anyone came and saw that area - its been so neglected.
Love the heads, Cindy and how you have them planted! Just let today's teens try to copy those "hairdos"! LOL What did you use to cut the hole in the top of that resin head? I may have to give that a try.
I want to know exactly WHAT it is that Paul is smoking? LOL (He will need to smoke something if he is allowing this crazy group to invade his home!)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

LOVE it! I'm gonna have to scout my Hobby Lobby for one (or two or even three..aren't you supposed to always do things in groups of odd numbers? That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)
I have wanted one of the cast heads for a long time, but they are so expensive to buy locally and so heavy to ship...but a resin one is an excellent alternative.
Marilyn - it is gonna be a pork loin. I told him last nite though that we needed to throw some chicken breasts in there too, in case some people don't eat pork (which I can't imagine who wouldn't LOVE pork). lol... are you sure you don't want to come up on Friday ????
Oh, I would love to come up on Friday and get one of those monster burgers and onion rings and then for supper have some of that delicious pork that Paul is smoking. I am drooling already!
However, I'm riding with Charlotte and her schedule only allows us to drive over on Saturday. I 'm quite sure I will save myself from gaining 10 pounds by not being there on Friday! (p.s. I wasn't referring to meat when I said Paul would need to be smoking something-ROFLOL-I can't believe I just said that-I'm getting wild in my old age!)
Sandra, Paul probably decided at least if he cooks he'll get to eat on time. Remember how long he had to wait on us last year? lol We all were busy looking for plants to get to the resturant!
Mmmm, I can already smell that smoked pork. Bonnie, let us know what to bring to bring. I can bring papergoods, drinks, bread, side dishes, whatever. Or go pick something up. We don't want you and Paul to be busy cooking for us all day. We want to visit!
Cindy, your heads look so good! That's a great idea about the resin heads. I'll have to look for one of those since I had such bad luck with my other one.
Here's a pic of it last spring after I got it.
Terrye... I was working outside last night when I looked across the yard and thought I MUST be seeing things, but about a 100 yds away was the Kerria Japonica that you gave me and it has ONE single bloom on it. I was so excited I went to get the camera to take a picture of it... was going to post the pic last night but my internet was down AGAIN! I didn't expect it to bloom this year at all...
