I've felt the same regret at all the lovely bulbs that get discarded. Some nursing homes and assisted living facilities might welcome volunteers working in their flower beds, and some residents might even be able to help with planting. Years ago, one of my aunt's favorite fragrant bushes went with her to a new place where she and the other residents could enjoy. I thought that was a lovely idea.

I'll ask today when I'm visiting someone if I can help spread this idea.
