I have recently been bitten by this particular plant. I have about 1/2 dozen, experimenting with them here and there on the property. I have discovered that they are not a bog plant as I had assumed. Iam ready this year to plant a swathe of them. Your article was a great help as are the links. Thank you, from your neighbour in Nova Scotia.
While Calluna can survive in boggy conditions, they prefer more well-drained sites...soils that are acidic and peaty is the main criteria. They will do fantastically in coastal NS!
