My tithonia size challenge

McLean, VA(Zone 6b)

These are such pretty flowers, but the plants get too large for the areas that I would like to use them in, so I decided to take drastic measures this year. Instead of letting them grow to the four foot plus that I had a couple of years ago, I am going to keep cutting them down to let them max out at about 3 feet. I just sowed some torch tithonia seeds last night - these are the same 4 ft plus seeds that I used two years ago. (I didn't start any tithonia last year because of their size).

Although I know that the stalks do get large as they grow, I think that this is work a try. I had pretty good lateral branching in the past, so I'm not worried that I will be sacrificing a lot of flowers. If it doesn't work, it really didn't cost anything since I already had the seeds.
