And it's edible, too, though a little bitter, as you'd expect. I just call it a "wild groundcover" and leave it where it is, most of the time :-D. (Same with the violets, which I know is another one that gives many people fits...)

I -HATE- this little plant. This was a good descriptive article about it. Thank you for it. If you don't get those little seed pods, you're in BIG trouble!

I just try to keep it out of my flower beds. The plants in the lawn can just stay there and get mowed, although if we don't mow frequently, there's the possibility that the seed heads will develop.

Great article! I love seeing any plant I know in the limelight. These little guys are Everywhere, and I enjoy pulling them up because they are the first weeds and I have not grown tired of weeding yet. But they really do take over. I have begun mulching a la Ruth Stout, and they are not a problem in the mulched garden. The paths are their favorite places to pop up here.

    Thanks for the article!

huckleberry: Glad you enjoyed the article (and the weeding).

I'm a transplanted native Oregonian (Grants Pass and Portland)!

I really like Grant's Pass. It usually comes out Grant's Pants when I say it aloud. I am one of those darned California poppies that blew over the border. Hope you are enjoying Ohio. I lived in Rocky River, west of Cleveland, for 2 yrs.
Pulled some more bittercress. Felt kinda bad doing it as they are cute, perky and strong.

LOL! Is that California intruder thing STILL going on? It was really bad when I was a kid, but I never could figure out what the big deal was.
Let's just say that Ohio isn't Oregon. :o)
Just looked out the window at the grassy hill behind the house. There's a pale white haze over the grass. You know, of course, what it is...
