My japanese magnolia finally finished dropping most of it's petals today. The petals break down fast and make great compost! My bin is full.. Picture was taken a few days ago...was really pretty this year.

I just read this old post and am commenting because my gut tells me flower petals have something extra to add to the soil. I like to leave them on the soil around plants as they break down pretty quickly. Does anyone know, do flower petals have anything special to add to the soil? The camellia flowers I'm talking about provide a lot of mulch.
