My Shima Nishiki tree peony this afternoon. I have another one (purple), Kamata Nishiki, that hasn't opened yet.
We must be on the same 'bloom time frame' right now - mine bloomed yesterday, only one... I can hope in the years to come it looks something like yours :-)
Yep, we're in sync.. Tree peonies are so slow to mature.. Mine is about 7 years old. It looked great last year with five blooms, this year there's only three.
I think most of mine are about 1 - 2yrs old, so very young! One is almost 4-5 yrs old and has 4 buds... yippie (its the most I have ever seen on one). They are all grafts and were only about 6-12" tall when I got them - then after planting to correct depth they were even shorter... but I am looking forward to the day they are the size of yours :-)
