Unfortunately most of those portrayed in my article are only hardy to Zone 6 or possibly could survive in a protected spot in Zone 5. The only two I'm aware of which would be hardy in Zone 4 are Euphorbia polychroma (Cushion Spurge) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher[common]=&searcher[family]=&searcher[genus]=euphorbia&searcher[species]=polychroma&searcher[cultivar]=&searcher[hybridizer]=&searcher[grex]=&search_prefs[blank_cultivar]=&search_prefs[sort_by]=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search or Euphorbia cyparissias (Cypress Spurge) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2005/ Neither of these have the "shrubby" habit of those featured in the article but I will say that Euphorbia 'Bonfire' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/123889/ has striking red foliage and quickly forms a lovely mound under taller plants. Hope this information helps you :)
