Unfortunately most of those portrayed in my article are only hardy to Zone 6 or possibly could survive in a protected spot in Zone 5. The only two I'm aware of which would be hardy in Zone 4 are Euphorbia polychroma (Cushion Spurge) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=euphorbia&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=polychroma&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search or Euphorbia cyparissias (Cypress Spurge) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2005/ Neither of these have the "shrubby" habit of those featured in the article but I will say that Euphorbia 'Bonfire' http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/123889/ has striking red foliage and quickly forms a lovely mound under taller plants. Hope this information helps you :)
