Welcome to the Raise My Baby Swap 2010

Yes, this is the 3rd year and we are all looking forward to new adoptees.
Babies are anticipating new mamas. Whether they'll get to their new homes by carriages or storks, let's hope their journeys are made comfortable.

Please be fair: send a baby that shows potential growth and a chance for survival, hence not a mere seedling.
NO adult plant please. It's okay to send a companion plant, so the baby won't be alone.
Again, I stress, no cacti, venus fly traps nor any artificial plants!

Make sure your baby's hydrated during the journey.
I recommend strongly you use prority mail and if you can, delivery confirmation, as well.
So no mamas can accuse you of sabotage if the baby didn't get to the right address ;)

Please post picture of your baby and let us know how she/he is doing. If you have any valuable tips on how to raise a perfect baby, please share.

Naming the baby will be the new mama's privelige.

Have FUN.. let the baby parade begin!! ^_^

Oh Jaye, I am so sorry. Funny thing is my arm which I throw up to protect my face from getting scratched or bitten is much worse but I guess the lip area is so sensitive that it hurts more. Hummm , think it could be the moon? I have this horrible feeling what we were told when we adopted her 9 years ago might be coming into play now. She was hurt by her previous owners and they tried to poison her. The vet where we adopted her did tell Ross that they couldn't say she didn't have "brain damage" that might show up as she aged. I am beginning to think this might be the situation--oh how I hope not but will find out. Keep your scratch clean!!!

Hi everyone...
yippeee, Jaye, Thank you for my Buddie!
I am excited!

You know, i have so much fun in this Swap.

I still have my first baby Lulu from the first Swap. She's a Hibiscus.
And Angel is also still doing well. My very first Brug, Angel trumpet(i think.)

I would like an outside plant, please.

P.S. Quote from Jaye... "So no one will be able to sway the judge by dmails.. cmails.. emails.. or telephone calls!!"
Bashfully batting my eyes, your not referring to me? Are you?? LOLOL,

If you don't have a puppy pee pads, or a childs diaper, you can use baggies. Just wrap the roots real well with paper towels, then put in the baggie, and tie shut with tape or rubberbands. You can also use water sorb crystals if you have them.
Make sure you send them priority, and on Monday, so they don't sit at the post office all week-end.

I went to last year's threads to get an idea of how big the plants were when received.. what a riot!! First off, there weren't a whole lot of pics, but alot of smack talk going on..poor Betty, who was the judge, couldn't make up her mind and Jax was trying to sway her vote with a pitiful, horrific story of the terrible things her little baby went through before she expired (seemed to be a lot of hiccuping going on while the story was told and embellished upon!)

Jax, one word of advice. Might apply to some new mamas here.
PLEASE, when your new baby arrives, DON"T lift it up by its' head!!!
Pick up gently from the bottom and cradle it with care!!!!

Make sure the roots are wrapped in wet paper towels or newspaper and placed in a baggie or in a baggie full of watersorb crystals, secured with tape or rubberbands, then lots of packing material so they don't get too bruised! I always mail mine priority, with delivery confirmation early in the week, so they don't sit in the post office truck all week-end.

Did y'all here the celbrating going on over here!

Big cheesy grin and all the drinks are on me...passing out cigars, got pink and blue!

I am the proud mumma of a spectacular baby!

Thank you Tish!! Oh my I don't know how long baby waited by the door, Stork left her by the wrong door, yikes must have been a substitute...Our Rosie knows all pkgs get delivered to other side, and she usually rings the bell for me.

But, I was just preparing a temporary play pen for her on the deck close to my side, when I happen to walk around and there she was.

Oh you did a wonderful job in sending her along, she is safe and not even a bump or bruise! We've changed out her crib and she is resting all snug and comfy, stretching out her roots, while listening to birds lulling her to sleep after her journey...

Thank you again...Oh I must brag, she is a beautiful Echinacea "Tomato Soup" Red Coneflower! Oh my and she is to get quite tall and wide too. So I will replant her to her permanent room at the end of the month!

Woohooo...LOL, Jaye wink if you were referring to me as first recipiant having a beer, lol you know me too well!

Yep, it will be wise to not give babies any reason to be sitting in a hot post office.

Look how cute Cheeks is!!! Has Skittles been singing to Cheeks, Judy? She looks so restful and it surely shows she's very happy in her new crib.
Congrats Mama!!!

Please note, I will create individual folders for you all.
In your folder will be dated baby pictures and these will be used by Judge Carolyn.
So, her decision won't be based by any sweet postings and especially briberies.
Hence, it is important that you keep posting your babyies' pictures as they grow.

Wow,, Great name and nice looking plant!! I went to 5 nurseries today!!!!!! I had so much fun I got a few nice plants and have to go back for the others as I bought some water plants and they are holding them there til we leave. I think I have just the thing for my new momy to be,, but not sure,, more shopping to follow.

OT I found the strangest herbs today,, there was a dwarf lavender??? and a really odd oregano, it has super thick leaves,, forgot the name also found a "Blue Elf" Aloe plant!!!!
Cooool huh!!

Ralph just left to go fishing so I am going to start organizing all the stuff I bought and getting it packed to leave on Sat. We go yo Jacksonville next and then to a friends house for a day or two and then home, Sure hope Mike has watered all my plants. I am worried about them.

Just wondering.

Judy, hope Cheeks is not mentally scarred from having to stay in the closet. At least it's not waiting in the heat!! Your stork must be new at this. We'll just have to lodge a complain with Stork HQ.

Maybe we shouldn't encourage Jax there, Judy!!

Oh darn!! Might as well give her the whole bottle!!

seedtosser1 - glad the baby got there fine. I was starting to worry though delivery confirmation said it was there. lol. I always feed them well before the stork comes and gets them so glad Cheeks wasn't that hungry. Maybe the stork had snuck in one of those drinks and so "he forgot". lol. At least I put Cheeks in as snug as a bug in a rug and you found it fine.

Jaye Mexican Oregano is more like the traditional oregano leaves. The Cuban kind is really nasty in my opinion. Some folks use it to cook with, but I can't stand the smell of it. The leaves are almost like a succulent type leave. Very fleshy.

Thanks Neener. I have tried using the dried Mexican oregano, and it's a tad strong for me too. I still prefer regular oregano.
The only herb that came back this year is my oregano!! Love its' scent when I brush against it.

That's pretty Sis. I had one that was red with some white. Killed it.
They even have the pink and white ones. Never seen a yellow one before.

Hey, I received a plant today.. woohoo!! I happened to meet the postman just putting my package into the mailbox, so got her inside right away. But Miss Sarah, my cat, was climbing all over the box trying to figure out what was in it, so I shook my box real good to make sure my new baby was ok (I couldn't leave it in the sun cause it's COLD here and I don't have any Bailey's) and I made her a tiny little itsy-bitsy margarita to warm her up!

I've got to clean her up, cause she puked..silly baby.. and then I'll take her pic :)

OH.. it came from the wonderful state of GA! Thank you RRM :)

Sigh..I have bad news :( One of the twins didn't make it..there wasn't anything in the little pot, so I took the dirt out and there was one very limp leaf in the dirt..wasn't quite sure at first if it was supposed to look that way or not..then opened the 2nd little one and there was this cute little plant, so I was sure then.. I'll bury her nice and proper.

You'll notice that Colleen is wearing the pretty jewelry that you sent with her, and Cara (the surviving twin) is holding her chin up, even though her heart is broken over Ciera's demise. In my defense, I must point out that I was KIDDING about shaking the box and it wasn't that shaking that killed Ciera!!

Here's my pretty girls..what's really funny about the baby you sent me, I had just seen one of those at Lowe's and almost bought it..but didn't..woohoo, now I don't have to :)

Baby parade continues!!

Colleen is such a beautiful baby!! She looks so exotic and that jewelry is to die for! So sorry Ciera wasn't strong enough to make the journey. Are you sure you didn't shake her brains off? Not that I'm doubting you... Chris.
Miss Sarah.. look after baby Cara will you. She's mighty sensitive right now.
Charleen, you should start marketing plant jewelry. Pearls always look good on any lady!

Woa Jax... you truly are so blessed!! A doctor in YOUR future?? And in your family, especially??
Let's hope Sis Kathy sends you one that will listen to good instructions if he wants to be a doctor.
You better start drawing a map for Ruppel, you know how ALL your previous babies start to wander and can't find their way back!
Jax, let's hope Sis Kathy's blood ain't tainted ;)
