Tree Peonies: Which is/are your favorite and why?

Auburn Four Corners, PA(Zone 5a)

I'm a relative newbie with Tree Peonies, but have been ramping up my 'research' into them. A trip to a botanic garden at just the right time revealed some beautiful 'moutan' types. Amazingly beautiful.

Looking at photos on websites, I'm struck by how different the flowers can look from one garden to another. I've also heard that plants can be mis-labelled as well.

I found 'Yaso Okina' to be - possibly - the most beautiful white tree peony I've seen so far. Here's my photo of it in bloom on May 1st at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Unfortunately, I've not found it for sale on any website, and I've only found reference to it as one of the parents of 'Alice Harding,' a yellow tree peony.

Well, I didn't find your Yaso Okina, but I did find you a white one that is pretty nice.... Brother's Peonies have it, it's called Okinai-jishi. Check it out:

That is a pretty white, Ticker. Nice online catalogue as well. I'll have to remember come the fall!

Ahem, I never met a peony, be it tree, herbaceious or Itoh that I didn't like. :)

LOL! Yes, I can understand. I guess it comes down to the question, 'which ones MUST I make space for in my garden!'

Here's 'Kokuchoh' at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Very nice. :) It could come live here. Space is not a problem for me at this point in time. :)

'Yachiyo Tsubaki' (Eternal Camellias) is one of my very favorites, but on any given spring tree peony season day, I could be caught having another favorite. :)

I tend to adore 'Spring Carnival' too.

The list goes on...
