I saw THE most beautiful geraniums at the local nursey, called Martha Washingtons. When I went back the next day they were sold out of the red ones. The closest I have found at other nurseries are called "astros" (or something like that). What can a geranium "expert" tell me about these Martha Waashington beauties and what makes them so special. Are they Heirloom- genuinely from Colonial times?

they are very pretty. I bought some last year at Trader's Joe but haven't checked on it this year. They did not survive my winter, even in the garage. They look like pansies.
