Welcome to the Raise My Baby Swap 2010

Yes, this is the 3rd year and we are all looking forward to new adoptees.
Babies are anticipating new mamas. Whether they'll get to their new homes by carriages or storks, let's hope their journeys are made comfortable.

Please be fair: send a baby that shows potential growth and a chance for survival, hence not a mere seedling.
NO adult plant please. It's okay to send a companion plant, so the baby won't be alone.
Again, I stress, no cacti, venus fly traps nor any artificial plants!

Make sure your baby's hydrated during the journey.
I recommend strongly you use prority mail and if you can, delivery confirmation, as well.
So no mamas can accuse you of sabotage if the baby didn't get to the right address ;)

Please post picture of your baby and let us know how she/he is doing. If you have any valuable tips on how to raise a perfect baby, please share.

Naming the baby will be the new mama's privelige.

Have FUN.. let the baby parade begin!!

Paula, how's Gracie doing? Has she hydrate enough to recover?

Maid M... under the house???? Poor kids!! Are you sure their antics last night are not caused by that ruffian that's still hanging around your house? The one that tries to sway Lingernot... (if that's the gnome's name..)

Don't think I approve of chains Charleen. There should be less violent ways to keep your kids in check.

Now that you mentioned it Jaye, that might be who was causing all the trouble last night. Guess I should go get the babes and have a chat with them. LOL Humm, now I am thinking maybe it has been the ruffian gnome that lurks around here that has dug up my plants. I am sure the squirrels would never, ever do that!!!

No baby here either, so it's going to be another enjoyable whine free week-end without a screaming brat. My hat's off to the rest of you new Mommies that are losing sleep and bottle feeding all hours of the day and night.

Edited to say: My sweet adopted octuplets are doing great and had a nice long drink this afternoon.

Well, finally I am getting a little break so I can post the latest with my baby. It has been a rough, I do mean rough 36 hours and I am not sure we have passed the crisis yet. Baby is back in the neo natal unit with digestive system problems. Kim is helping me by taking turns staying with her. We have a very good specialist, Dr. I. Ken Helpa, assisting with her problems. Dr. Helpa tell us she is suffering from IRS (insufficient root syndrome). I will post pictures as soon as I can but at the moment cameras aren't allowed in the intensive care nursery.

Goodness Little Red Mandy is as tall as Goober!!
Well Cindy.. you're being kind as to make sure Goober has a good chance, eh?

Cookie, that was Robin's first baby. If you recall how Contessa was the most regal one in the first RMB swap. She's becoming more of a queen than a Countess!!

Sis Kathy.. you're being mean!!!! Geaux Tigers!!!
That's a nice toy, though. Michael, spoil my sister more!! I love you for it.

Jax, please come out.. I'm so sorry if I have hurt your feelings. You know I love you.

Errr.. Joyce... another shot of what??? Please clarify???? For Pouty Patty??

Are you sure Dr. I Ken Helpa is the best? Have you checked his credentials Maid M. You know there are many just grab your money and give the wrong diagnosis!

Yes, I worry over ALL kids!!

Ladies, I've dmailed those that haven't sent out and waiting on answers.

If you've mailed out and haven't got any notice from your buddy, please dmail me dc # or let me know. Or if your baby's in transit, let me know too.

I hope my reputation as a hostess will ease your fears if you're worried whether you'll be getting your baby.
One way or another, you'll get yours.

Kel's cousin just got this tat done..Kris, I don't think you'd do this?? The pain...

Joyce, that sounds like a fun sale with the Master Gardeners. We used to have trades at the garden club and that sure made it much nicer when we were just starting to landscape our yard in Gainesville, The Department of Agriculture would send someone each time we had a trade to inspect the plants so we knew we were getting healthy plants.

Oh Jaye, I sure do hope it doesn't come to that but I must admit I am concerned. The digestive system was just not developed enough when it was born so we are going day to day. Bad thing is I now have a bald baby as it's hair-what little it had--feel off. Oh well, we did find a little encouragement as there are some tiny nodules on the body and Dr. Helpa says that is good. Wonder if Jax's Baileys would help now?

Gracie seems to be doing fine, but something keeps giving the plants in that area a 'haircut', just the buds and tip ends. My husband is going to put up his hunting camera and hopefully we can catch the culprit. Its either a deer or the turkeys.

Paula, I think your neighbourhood might be the new playground forthat ruffian that Maid M was having problems with last year.
Hope your husband's more vigilant than our Maid M. Our babies do like their crowning glory intact.

Susan, I've been lucky. There are deers here frolicking, but somehow they stay away from our plants.
Some daylilies start to bloom, thanks to the rain.

Mamas, I've managed to score a deal with Bonne Voyage. She's willing to give this group a huge discount on funeral arrangements ;)

I have a big black dog I will send you all, he keeps the deer and rabbits away and he doesn't eat plants...he does eat other things...lots of things, things he shouldn't eat, things you wouldn't think about him eating...kind of like having a creepy little brother who destroys your stuff if you don't put it up...great motivator...rofl on second thought I better keep him...LOL

Finally stopped raining here long enough for me to plant my baby. After much encouragement, I am going to try the blueberry bush. Elfie convinced me that it could work. So let me introduce you to Duke. I don't think I've ever had royalty growing here so I feel very honored. Many thanks to Jax for a great plant and a chance to join in the fun.

Sis Kathy I know what you mean about clothes. I have a closet full of "farmer" clothes. That's the nice thing about being a landscaper. It doesn't have to be a fashion show everyday.

You all behave yourself on the trip. Clothes should always be optional among friends. :0)

Humm, do I have to have my windows tinted dark so I don't get stopped for transporting nekked women in my car? Hey, I got farmer clothes too!! Nothing wrong with farmer clothes--like me maumaus also or however it is spelled!! Floaters as some people prefer to call them. You can let lots of things float with them floaters. LOL

So the ruffian who corrupted my little gnome last year has now taken up eating plants? He is hungry, feed him!! Paula, I have some hairless/headless chillins' also. One is still in the intensive care unit but Dr. Helpa assure me it is doing better--saw more little bumps on it skinny body so for now I will trust him. Promised I can take a picture tomorrow if all goes well overnight. Put a little white lightnin' in it's formula to night so that should help some.

Jaye, how awful. We aren't going to need the services for Bonn Voyage--just tell her to not get her knickers in a knot just yet. We be working on this precious babes.

I be fully clothed now!! Can't be nekkid going to a proffessional place.
We be sisters here and now we got to be decent looking as brother Tubby just surprised us.
Wonder if he'd give us good tips on raising the youngs?

Neener, so Duke be your official baby.
So you're a mama to a true 'fruit' :D
All we need is one reall nut!!

Maid M, what is your baby's name? I suggest you call it Doom Boy cause I still don't trust Dr. Helpa. Those bumps might be green measles!!! You need a second opinion and I don't mean a second bottle :P

Sis Kathy, don't be out there too long in the sun now. That A hat won't protect you much!!

Just like a man isn't it--just sneaky up on us ladies when we least expect it. LOL Well if he can offer advise--good that is--for an ailing baby with a digestive system that isn't fully developed then that will be okay. Okay Tubby--what you say?

Jordan, glad you got clothes. Kim and I are planning to take our teacher and yard clothes. That's who we be!!!

I need to check with Dr. Helpa and see what the latest report is and no, they aren't green measles. I think they are really, really, quite now: small leaf buds. ShesssssH--not to loudly don't want to jinx them, now do we.

Will send a name soon--working on it and BTW, it is a lady--yeap a little girl baby for the moment. Now her traveling buddies are going great guns ahead in their nursery.

heavenscape, I love the name hambone...rofl, I may need to steal that the next time a stray shows up at my house. Great name.

DH and I went to a wedding one time that was at the strangest time. When it was over it was too late for lunch and too early for dinner so we went back home all dressed up waiting for it to get late enough to go to dinner when a neighbor stopped by. I thought they were looking at us kind of strange, when I looked around and realized I had without thinking pulled a weed which led to another weed, and DH all dressed picked up the broom and was on the porch sweeping off the trash seeds from the maple tree...hummm we must of been a sight dressed to the 9's gardening...LOL So at least one time I had class when I was in the garden...LOL

Tubby!!! Now, you should have no problems with your brains as men seldom use theirs..
Seriously.. big hugs here... one day at a time, and I pray that soon you'll have those vessels free flowing again.

Sis Kathy, it's for those that ferget to send the babies out. Got a couple that explained. Spoiling Leggy Bowen there.. but that's good for his ego.

Maid M., hope you name her baby something normal. Don't want to give her a complex you know..

Joyce, you and your DH sound like true gardeners. Decked out to weed!! Now people might think you have butlers in the house!!
Hambone was found tied up in front of a grocery store for hours. Kel named him that cause he was given a REAL hambone as his first meal that day.. with meat on it of course.
His head and body are all German Shepherd, while his legs are Basset Hound.

Yes, I just read hambone has basett hound legs, Jay, I have two bassett hounds. Slick and Bass.
I am sleep deprived today, cause "Bass" the oldest had surgery yesterday, and they put one of those cones around his neck, well when you have short legs and head down all the time, that cone drags on the hardwood floors, then catches on the area rugs, you name it and he was up ALLLLL night crying and walking. I couldn't put him in the garage cause heaven only knows what he would of ran into with that cone and we had to keep him away from the other dogs...so about the time I got up at 4:30 he finally fell asleep exhausted...him and DH were sleeping peacefully when I got up to go to work! I will have to take a pic, poor bassey.

Loved/love that song Duke of Earl... :D

Oh would love to see a pic of your bassett. The only think my old bassett gets excited about and will run with is a roll of toilet paper, ever since he was a pup. I can't leave the roll on the hanger thingy cause he grabs it in his mouth and runs like crazy, then flops down, waiting for you to come up, then does his playful growl. By the time you get it away from him (before he shreds it) it is full of teeth marks and flat! Not to useable after that...LOL I tease my DH and tell him Bass is ready to go out... Course doesn't look to becoming when he gets it and we don't notice it and someone comes over...tpaper in the dining room???

Happy Memorial day everyone!!
Unlike last year, where Memorial Day was spent with a bunch of DGers...this year, we'll just be grilling at home.

Awww Dickie's so good lookin'!! Any suitors yet, Neener?

Susie, looks like you got a very well adjusted baby there. Baby Phloxy is beaming with happiness.

Kris, don't you call Mandy a brat. Her mama's very sensitive I'm sure, and we won't want to hurt her feelings.
(Pssst.. you might need to show your grandma what it takes to make a great baby ;)

No Susan, Elsa doesn't qualify!!!! She's truly a beauty. What have you been feeding her? Steroids?

Chris, apparently you've cooked the bird and got too 'stoned' on the sauce! Wake up!!
Good mama... we got to keep predators off the babies.

My, Tish.. I just want to squeeze Lucy Lou's jowls!! She's sooo cute.. but then, I just love all furkids!!

Joyce, Hambone loves to throw things in the air and will try to catch them. He's truly a ham...

Hope you all ladies are getting good weather today!

Darling Duke isn't looking so perky either. Poor little guy tossed his cookies this morning when I sprayed him with deer repellent. Or maybe that was me that barfed...that stuff smells so oooo bad. But what's a Mommy gonna do to keep the critters away? If only they made a mule repellent too. My neighbor's mules got out again the other night. Tramped all over everything. Big horseshoe prints all through the beds and the yard. Stomped all over some new plants I just put in. Good thing I'm too tired and too busy to fuss about it this year. Wouldn't matter anyway, they would still get out and rampage around the mountain.

Could someone please turn off the heat now???

I am sad to tell everyone that Pouting Patty had surgery today. It is still touch and go but hoping for a speedy recovery. Her buds were removed to see if she can't get some energy instead of putting on her best attire at such a young age. Will post pics later, and where is the doc when you need him...what no house calls!!!!!

Well Ladies, the stork arrived again at my house yesterday. It seems that Jax has decided I need a fighting chance at this deal and has sent me another baby to raise. Darling Duke the blueberry is looking better and may just surprise us all.

Now added to the nursery is "Goldie". She's a beaut and is gonna knock the socks off all the boys.

Thanks Jax,

I am so happy to have delivered my baby.. my twins( the babys play mates) are tucked away under the old pear tree, and my japanese painted fern( the baby) is right where I can see it twice a day by the old elm tree and feeders.. Ching and Chang are the twins name, and my Japanse babys' name is Lady. Here is Chang, her twin is on the other side of the bird bath behind the pear tree. They are very happy and got some Charley Poo tea today for breakfast. ( Thanks , Charleen) My plants are not hungry right now, since they are all fed.

I just got done with my oldest son's graduation. Yea! So proud. Hey quick question... has anyone here ever grown a pumpkin on a stick or Easter Egg plant in a pot? I grew so many that I have to do something with them. Hate to throw them a way.

Morning Mamas!!
Happy day today, since Lady Michiko, Debra's adoptee, has finally arrived. That was a long trip for sure.. via the Orient and from the land of the Rising Sun, Japan. Had to have the twins to accompany her on that ardous journey.
Debra's baby is a Painted Japanese Fern, and she sure is a pretty noble lady.
So they're Ching and Chang eh? Sounds like a pair of clashing cymbals!! They certainly are in a happy spot, with all that shade.
Hope that squirrel doesn't think that your babies make good meals Debra ;)

A few more names to check off. One has requested delay in mailing to her and another truly is being given the run-around by her adoption agency.
Two that I know have received haven't said anything about their charges.

Maid M. maybe you need some of that tea that Charleen uses?
Heard it has lots of minerals ;)

Hi Mumma's! So glad to see the babies are doing well...some experiencing a few issues, i hope things settle for ya.

Well, I just am popping in to see if my new mumma posted, I know she received it so i sure hope it's not dead...
..hanging head low, I was real late in sending the baby, sent a d-mail to let her know it was coming.

I am very happy to say Cheeks had doubled in height! Looking good...As soon as this weather will allow, I will get her transferred to a more permanent spot...Oh she just loves all this rain we are having!

Been craazzy busy and that is sort of an understatement! But I think about you all daily and i miss coming to see how the new babies are doing...So, I will tell you I 've sent a butterfly weed plant to my new mommy, i really hope she likes it, thought it was very pretty myself.
and really I sure hope that the baby is in the ground...Well just wishing you lot of success and visiting butterflies!

speaking of, look what came to visit yesterday!!

Will get a ppic of Cheeks soon.
