Mine too!!!LOL
By the way I'm really getting into the campanula. The pantyloon you gave me is blooming up a storm as well as my cherry bells. A month or so ago I found vicking somewhere - don't remember where and got it. I got an email that Bluestone was having their half off sale and ended up buying pink octopus and glomerata alba. The campanula just really seems to do well in my yard.

By the way, y'all, my Hobby Lobby has clearanced ALL garden items to 50%--all of them! Y'all might check your stores. They didn't mention the sale in their sales ad that came out yesterday and they didn't have signs up at my store. I happened to get a garden item and presented my 40% off coupon and the clerk said, "You can keep your coupon. All the garden stuff is 50% off." So I went back and got windchimes, birdhouses, and more.

I think they're already getting ready to stock the shelves with Christmas stuff, can you believe that? So they've been rearranging the shelves and not all the garden stuff is in the usual garden section, so look around your store for the additional aisles of garden items.

So if y'all have leftover tile pieces from tiling your house or a broken plate or some pretty broken glass thing or mirror or whatever, I could use it instead of your throwing it away.

Anyone want some Candlestick verbena? I thought I had gotten rid of it all last year, but a seed must have escaped. It's blooming! I'll rip it out tomorrow while weeding unless someone claims it. It looks too much like a wildflower for my tropical-style gardens. I may find more while weeding, so if several of you want a start, claim it and I'll see what I can find.

Also, these things have become "weeds" to me and I'm ripping them out as I weed, so if you want any of these in particular, claim them and I'll save some for you. Otherwise, they're going on the burn pile as I get to weeding the spots they're in:

Spearmint
Silver Mint
Limelight Artemisia
Four Oclocks - yellow, fuscia, and Custard & Cream (Yellow and white striped)
Pink Soapwort
Purple Obedient plant
Purple leaf perilla
Moonflower bush - Datura (toxic if ingested)
Passiflora incarnata - Passion flower
Chameleon Plant
Dwarf Solomon's seal - only one plant

I can give you a good chunk of these (except the sol's seal), so if you want them, speak now. I have too much of them and need to move them out to plant my new stuff.

I'm goin g to set up some saw horses and plywood tables and I have a couple of long fold out tables.

I'm going to go through everybody's trade lists and see who needs a large table, and label the tables , some of you can share a table,

I will have one whole table labeled FREE plants. they will be plants that you can give away that are not intended for anybody in particular. Reason I am goin g to do this is because I'm going to have a couple of local ladies coming, and I know marilyn may have a guest that is not a member of DG. They will not have plants to trade, but may want to acquire a few .

I have alot of plants potted up to put on to this table. Anybody can pick from these plants , not just the ladies who aren't dg members.

Now, just so ya'll know, my boss andher daughter are the two i've invited. Just a heads up there ha .

She's a real nice lady. loves plants, but doesn't have a big garden like some of us do.

I also invited my walking partners, but none will be able to attend, other engagements.

If you have a friend you would like to bring, feel free. I have door prizes for my two guests, but I think i'm goin g to mention the door prizes to them, cause I think they'd probably rather bring one than have me donate one for them.

So we all are in agreement that we don't want any games? I've talked to a couple folks and they have said, they don't care if we play games, just want to visit and eat, and go visit the gardens that will be in sad shape by the time ya'll get here lol

I agree that it will be nice to just be able to visit and eat and look at your gardens. Your gardens are never in sad shape!!! As much as you have there is always something to look at. Some of the things may not be blooming that you want us to see in bloom but there is certainly enough to look at and I have a feeling we will have a hard time taking it all in.

I figure we'll be eating where ever, I have a place in the back yard that i'll be putting about 8 chairs, some fold out chairs. so if anybody wants to bring a lawn chair , feel free.

I t would be nice if you could swing by marilyn, Why does it always work out that way. never in our favor

I need to ask, How are we going to work the plants out .

I have tables that will have everybody's name on them, and until all tables get here, we'll put names the tables when the ladies bring them . I think we'rea ll prettty much bringing a bunch of plants, specially nancy ann.

I know I said I was going to have a free table, where we could put our plants that we want to give away that nobody has claimed, doing this specially for our guests it's just easy that way for everybody to know for sure what's available or up for grabs so to speak.

Wht about the rest of the plants? should we put the spoken for plants under the table where their names are? if so, what goes on top of the and if we put our plants that other people are bringing us on top of the table we won't have room to put our plants in order to sort through them to get them to their prospective names.

so , not sure how to work this. any clues?

Not all of us will have "Free" plants, is why I want to have the free table available . Just trying to get some ideas, I have a full week ahead of me next week, need to get the thinking part out of the way ha!

Marylyn, what time will you be coming through Little Rock and which way will you be going?--on over to I-55 at West Memphis? Maybe some of us could meet you in North Little Rock and have lunch with ya'll if you have time. Let us know.

I may be having two guests--my cousin and a friend from Conway--don't know for sure yet but I'll let you know by Wednesday, Kathy Ann.

When we went to Debra's we put all the plants we brought on top of the table with our name on it. Then when we started trading plants, we would put the plants that others had brought for us underneath our table and the others could pick the plants with their names on them off the different tables and put them underneath their table. does that make sense to everybody?

Do you think we could just put the plants we're taking home with us out by our cars so they're ready to load when we're ready to go? Do we really need tables for all our plants? Maybe just one for the freebies or we could even just set them on the ground. I'm going to put each person's plants in a bag or box or boxes, depending on how many they get. So they'll be easy to load.

Remember, I don't have any pots so I'm just wrapping the roots like I do for shipping.

Does anyone want some Passiflora Incarnatas besides Janie? I'm ripping some out. They attract Gulf Frittilary Butterflies.

Also I have some Sanseveria (Mother in Law Tongue) and one Sanseveria Cylindrical that looks like a step-child. It needs some love. Is anyone into these succulent houseplants?

I'm bringing two tables about 5 or 6 ft long and a couple of chairs. A friend may come with me. I'm trying to talk her into it but she lives about an hour from me. I mentioned free food, free plants, and friendly plant addicts. How can she resist??

That's fine if you want to Nancy, remember those plastic trays though that melted inmy car :0) there's no shade around there to park your car in, it's all full sun.

I have passiflora incarnata also, in the back pasture last year I had it all over the place, not sure if it's out there this year.

I have a bunch of pots out in the barn nancy what size are you looking for?

I need to clear some of them out.

I didn't mean put the plants IN the cars, just beside them. It will save time later with hauling them out there. It's a couple hours drive for me. And if my friend comes, it will be a 3hr drive for her.

What time is this shindig anyway?? I missed the time somewhere. I don't want to get there too late and miss the food! Snort snort.

I can use any size pots, but particularly one gallon and bigger. I'm moving big clumps of irises, daylilies and big perennials--tons of them. My entire yard is going to be different. I'll try to bring some pictures if anyone wants to see. Some of you haven't been here in ages, when half the yard was weeds. Now it's all garden!

Oh, it would be great if you and Charles and the girls would make a stop in either North Little Rock or Cabot! I'm excited that you are going to be coming through this way especially after talking to you on the weather thread for the last 2 1/2 years! :o)) There are plenty of places in the McCain Mall area
right after you get off I-30/40 and get onto 67/167 toward Jacksonville (but you will still be in North Little Rock) or, for me anyway, it would be wonderful if you could stop in Cabot. There are plenty of fast food restaurants right there off the freeway at the 2nd Cabot exit. We could meet at one of those. However, if Kim (duckmother) wants to meet you, too, I would be willing to drive to North Little Rock and meet you all there. I know you don't want to take the time to stop in both places. Let us know, Marylyn. I really would love to meet you and your family in person!

I'm bringing pink lemonade and a Wylers raspberry drink, which I love. When I have gatherings here, it's what most people want. I'm bringing some yellow lemonade too. All sugar free.

My banana split pie is all natural sugars, from the fruit, except the crust. Gotta have a little something sweet. I usually use chocolate Oreo cookie crust. If someone would prefer the less sweet graham cracker crust, I can do that instead or make one of each.

While we are on the subject, is anyone allergic to any of these ingredients? If so, I can put them "on the side" and each can top their pie however they prefer:

nuts
coconut
pineapples
strawberries
cherries
whipped cream
chocolate chips

Of course the pudding and bananas are standard. If you don't like those, you'll have to eat one of those lemon pies KathyAnn's making. LOL

Hey guys, I'm growing this Amorpha Fruticosa bush, which I love except that it's gotten rather tall and leggy (about 8 ft tall) but only has leaves and blooms on maybe the top 1/4 of the plant. So there's these long leggy stems about 5 or 6 ft long with nothing on them.

I'm wondering if I'm supposed to prune this plant back each year so it gets bushier and fuller. Does anyone know? I did some research on it that said it can be rooted from soft or hardwood cuttings. So if I can prune it now, I could bring cuttings if anyone wants to try starting some. It has really pretty blooms and is supposed to attract lots of different moths and butterflies but I haven't seen any on it. Here's the info I found with lots of pictures:

http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=AMFR

So is anyone familiar with this bush and does anyone want cuttings?

I think the indigos are hard to propagate by cuttings, bu tthey put off suckers which you can divide. this is how most folks divide theirs. I hear that the indigofera is a good butterfly plant, I'm not sure, but i'm thinking it's close to the border on hardiness for me. very cool plant you have there!! Where did you get it?

Well, this is FALSE indigo. Is that the same of the indigofera you're talking about? Mine is Amorpha Fruticosa. I haven't gotten any suckering from it in all the years I've had it. I would like to have another one or two of these, but I don't want them to be so tall and gangly but bushier. They are so pretty when they bloom and I want more blooms.

I don't remember where I got it. I've had it for years. I think I bought it thinking it was Baptisia. I saw "Indigo" altho it was labeled False Indigo. I didn't know the difference between indigo and false indigo at the time.

It would actually be very hardy for you Kathy. I'm zone 7a and it's been outside ever since I bought it. It's survived these last two horrid winters with no problem. Want to try some cuttings?

The Amorpha is called False Indigo too. And I remember when I bought it years ago, I thought I was buying Baptisia (Indigo). So all these years, I waited for blue Baptisia blooms and they never came. And this thing just kept getting bigger and bigger and I knew it just couldn't be baptisia. I wish nurseries would label with botanical names. So many times I know the bot name and don't recognize the common name. Or as in this case, the common name can often mean several very different plants.

Actually the foliage on the false indigo looks more like mimosa tree foliage. The leaves are much smaller than Baptisia (which I do finally have and it's blooming those beautiful blue blooms!).

I'll cut a stem and bring you some. I think I'll try some too. I hate the legginess of it though. Do you think I should do a hard pruning and maybe it will bush out? I've never pruned it and I've had it for several years. I wonder if someone on the Perennials forum would know. Think I'll see if I can get us some info.

I do think you should do a hard pruning, I read there that it makes a bushier plant if you do that. I bet, you could ask, on the perennial forum too.

Marilyn, what are we doing about our guests and door prizes, I have 2 guests, I mentioned the door prizes, but I haven't heard back from mine and don't want them to be left out. I have gathered a door prize for each of them just in case. I hate to tell them to go buy a door prize if they want to be in the drawing. they may not be interested in doing that.

I'll be bringing my brother's car instead of my van. He said yesterday I could borrow.

I posted the question on the perennials forum so maybe we'll get some input. If not, I'll just cut one or two stems for us Kathy and we can root them. And next year I'll see what the bush does where I cut it. I'd hate to ruin it. It's too pretty when in bloom.

I have some seeds of the diocia silene saved for sandra already,

the golden bean thermopsis seeds may be ready too, that's the thermopsis that looks like lupine but yellow flowering, and the golden banner thermopsis looks like the baptisia, the golden banner will drop seeds and make new babies . my golden bean may too but it didn't drop seeds last year was too little of a plant, this year it's taller than me and about 3 foot around. it had a massive display this year.

this is when it first started blooming, it's bigger than that now but finished blooming

Kathy Ann, is that golden bean thermopsis the plant with the yellow bloom that you posted above when it was flowering? If so, I would like some seeds--want to try them for next year. Are they butterfly magnets?

I am bringing two door prizes--one for me and one for my guest. When I invite someone, I don't ever ask them to bring anything but however any of you others do it is strictly your choice.

I have a couple of tiger lilies that are getting ready to bloom. They have small round black seed-looking things at the base of each stem up and down the main stem. Are those seeds and should I harvest them?

Yes, Marilyn, those are seeds, or rather small bulbils. I'd love some if they're ready for picking. I had a nice stand of tiger lilies for a couple of years and then they suddenly disappeared, along with my hyacinths, tulips and a few other bulbs. Some critter I suspect. I hope he ate his fill and got sick! LOL

Charlotte, you're right, I wanted the toad lilies and moonvine. And you mentioned you might have some pots for me. If you do, that would be great. I'm pot poor currently with so many of my plants in pots while I redesign my gardens. I need more!

I've been out digging today too and have about half of it dug up. I'm working on a charity event that finally happens on Fri, so we have a lot of last minute stuff to do this week. So I'm trying to get all my digging done today and tomorrow so I can work the fund raiser until Fri. Fri I'll do the groc shopping and make the dip and pie. (I hope I can keep myself out of it. I never make it just for myself, so it's a treat when I get to make it for a party...and eat it!)

Charlotte, the pots are for me, NancyAnn. I think you're talking to me, right? Sheila is supposed to come but she hasn't mentioned what she wants from anyone. I'm bringing extra plants so she can have some of those.

The tiger lily bulbils are ready when they'll fall off the stem pretty easily. You shouldn't have to pull them really, just bump them and they fall off in your hand. Mine were always black, even when teeny tiny.

Congratulations on your potting shed Kathy. I built one last year to keep me out of the sun and keep some of my stuff dry. I now have two potting tables in there. A lady on Craigslist had a nice stainless steel potting table for $20, so I got it. It doesn't seem to matter how many potting tables I have though; they're both full all the time. LOL

This is the gate leading to my potting shed. I put a privacy fence up all the way around it so when I have guests, they don't see the clutter.

3 eggs

3 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
l/4 tsp baking powder
l tsp salt
l/2 cup chopped nuts

grease andf lour two loaf pans, 325 for done, you know when that is LOL

Marilyn, I want some of those tiger lily bulblets. Maybe I can get a stand of them again. Wonder what critter ate them before? Moles don't eat vegetation; they're after grub worms. I wonder if I have voles? They haven't grabbed my irises and they love irises.

Hey Sheila, go to the first post in this thread and click on my trade list. Kathy linked all our lists there. Email me a list of what you'd like from me. I only have a sun-filled yard as you remember, so you're going to have dig some dirt out in the sun somewhere. LOL But let me know what you want so I can bring it. I'm bringing a few extra plants, but maybe nothing you really want. I remember you were into LA irises before. I can bring you a few of those if they still interest you.

Why don't you email me and tell me what you already have and what some of your plans are and I can hook you up. I'm clearing some things out of my gardens for good because I have new plants I like better. So you'll be saving some of them from the compost.

Nancy Ann. you can get to bald knob on your own right? I remember having to get on the interstate and going for a while, passing bald knob not sure if i go past new port or not, it's been along time since i've been to your house, i'm not sure on where you get on the interstatat e at.

Nancy
you'll go past all the bald knob exits and take the SECOND judsonia exit, # 48 you will take a right when you get off the exit and go to the yield sign, take a right at the yield sign, go up the hill, that's highway 385 north .

follow 385 north for 3l /2 miles or so, to the stop sign, go through the stop sign, same road but the name of the road changes to 157

follow 157 you'll go past white county central school on the left. you'll go about another 5 miles past that, going down a steep hill that curves to the right then to the left, and at the foot of that hill is Dripping springs Rd. on the right.

Do not go over that bridge that's at the foot of the hill, that's too far, once your on dripping springs rd. follow it to the stop sign, take a left at the stop sign, and im' just down the road on the right, there's a sign in my yard that says "Kathy's Alterations. "

Kim: you will get on the interstate and go towards cabot, passing cabot , beebe , all searcy exits ( I think there's 5 of them) and take the first judsonia exit #48 you will take a left off the interstate, go over the over pass and down to the yield sign, then i'm copying and pasting these directions from above.

go up the hill, that's highway 385 north .

follow 385 north for 3l /2 miles or so, to the stop sign, go through the stop sign, same road but the name of the road changes to 157

Loretta
, your coming from Batesville, there are many back roads to my house from highway 367 (the old batesville) highway, not sure if you want to take any of them, best route to go is to go to bald knob right before you get to Bald knob, I think it's just past the dollar general store, be looking for highway 258 on the right side, it's a state highway and will have a state highway sign on the right side. you'll want to get on that highway (two lane road) and follow that road, I think it's a good 8 to 9 miles, you will come to highway 157 you will see the school white county central school across the road on highway 157. turn right on 157 and i'm copying these directions from above too.

you'll go about another 5 miles past that, going down a steep hill that curves to the right then to the left, and at the foot of that hill is Dripping springs Rd. on the right.

Karen, Janie: you guys can follow the same directions that i gave kim. if you need my cell number just dmail me.

Sheila, you work some long hours girl, no wonder your not on the computer. I feel for you. I'd go nuts not having any garden time. We have alot to catch up on when you get here. will be good to see you again. You should see the white dogwood you gave me years ago. do you remember? here it is. it's grown quite a bit LOL

nancy you could get off in bald knob and get on 258 and go the same way loretta is going, I wasn't sure if that would be easier on you or not, it's a back way, and alittle shorter.

you'd be taking the first bald knob exit, and don't be tempted to stop at that nursery right by the exit either LOL take a right and high way 258 is just down the road on the left side for you. then follow the directions after that on loretta's directions, it would cut off 5 mile or so. back roads are tricky sometimes , it may be best to take th e interstate to judsonia exit and go from there.

Hey guys, our Dollar Tree has some great gardening gloves for $1 a pair. I don't know how many of you have access to a $Tree, but I can snag some gloves for you if you want some and bring them on Sat.

The gloves are cotton knit with the palms and fingers dipped in blue rubber. Some of you may use the more expensive Atlas gloves. These are similar; the rubber isn't as thick, but they last me forever...if I don't leave them in the wheelbarrow when it rains. LOL They fit like skin, your hands don't sweat in them like they do in rubber or latex gloves, and the rubber keeps your hands from getting wet when you're working in wet areas. I also dig with my hands and these gloves are great for protecting my fingertips. I always hated gloves until someone sent me a pair of the Atlas gloves. Now I'm rarely without my gloves. They're washable too.

If you guys want to buy some ($1 plus tax per pair), I can go back and get some. Just let me know how many pairs you want. If you haven't tried these, trust me, you'll love them.

No I wouldn't expect you to pass up a nursery, that one is expensive. her little 4 inch pots are 5 bucks.

Terrye, sorry I forgot about you, highway 64 takes you straight into bald knob, from there you can either do two things.

get on the interstate there, if you do, you take a right when coming to the y in Bald knob, and you'll see the interstate, you take a left to get on it to go to the second judsonia exit and it's exit 48 you'll take a right like nancy does, and then follow her directions from there.

or you can not go the interstate and take the back road on highway 258 cutting off about 5 or 6 miles it's easy enough taking the back way it's a highway straight through that cuts off alot of time. it's long about 8 or 9 miles before yo ucome to 157 and take a right by the school. then follow thos e other directions.

when I go to memphis I always take 258 to go home and I cut off some time. 258 is curvy but a nice country high way . if there is such a thing LOL

Do you guys think we should have a free table for the plants or just put our free plants on top of our table.

I think it would be easier to have them all on one table if we have room for them.

Also wanted to find out what we want to do first? when ever y body gets here do you want to eat first? some things will need to be kept warm so I figure we'll eat first if that's ok, and then what? want to do door prizes next then the gardens, or just go visit the gardens before it gets too hot and then do the door prizes.?

And I didn't get an answer on if you want to draw numbers on the free plants like we did at Debra's house? we can look over the free plants and see if there's anything we want, and if there's nothing there we want, then we can pass up our turn and let someone else have a turn? what do you think?

It will take up alot of time to do the individual numbers and extra plants though.

when we get out to the back full sun garden, i'm just goin g to let you guys go free LOL it's too hard to follow each other out there. and you can just walk around and watch out for anything green LOL

One table for all the free plants sounds good to me. We may need the other tables for all this food we're bringing! I don't know which I like more--food or plants.

Since much of our food is finger food, we may be able to tour some of the gardens as we eat. What has to be kept warm? My cheese dips can even be allowed to cool. I like them better when they're not hot and runny. I'm eager to see your gardens. I haven't been there in so long! Maybe we could see some (the sunny areas) before we eat and the shady areas afterwards? Just an idea. I'm on medication that makes me very sensitive to sun and heat, so I may not be able to keep up with you guys. But I'll sure try!

I have a huge bar in the kitchen and a huge table, the food will fit on those two places. we will have charlotte's table set up in the back yard where it's shady and chairs out there and we can eat out there if we don't want to eat inside.

I'm bringing a couple of tables too Kathy. They're those white plastic folding luncheon tables that Big Lots sells. They're 5 or 6 ft long.

And I have a folding lawn chaise if something wants to use. It's one of those walmart patio things that lays out. I got a picture somewhere. Let me see. I thought maybe Sandra might want it out in the yard. She could lie back in it. It's in the picture below but you can't see it well. There are two chairs, with the matching chaise in the middle. It's a long thing and I think the back reclines so you could lie flat if you want. My friend who helps with building projects naps in it when I work him too hard. Anybody wanna use it? I can bring the two lawn chairs too if you think we need them.

I probably could not get up if I laid down in the chair, Nancy Ann, thanks for thinking of me though-I will be fine. I just can't sit a long time without propping my leg up.
A couch recliner will be fine, Kathy Ann, I just have to get all propped up and get off that nerve.
The surgeries I had did help me, I think this is more damaged nerves with a combo of arthritis that keeps giving me trouble now. Every time you have a back surgery you get more nerve damage--I could always dig with a shovel easier than sweep with a broom--doesn't that sound crazy, but it was a fact. I have not dug much of anything this year though-or swept either-LOL

Kathy Ann, Tom Brannon said on Channel 11 this morning that the temp could get up to 98F on Sat. and Sun.!!!-- so we might want to tour the sun gardens first, then eat and then tour the shade gardens and do the door prizes last. Of course, that forecast was for Little Rock and you are about 60 miles north of there so maybe it will only be in the low 90's where you live! LOL The grape salad I am bringing will have to be kept cold so I will set the bowl of grape salad down in a larger bowl filled with ice. I will bring the larger bowl with me and a bag of ice, too.
One table for the extra plants sounds good to me. If any of us gets into a tug-of-war over a particular plant, there will be plenty of 'judges' around to say who wins! ROFLOL

OK - I'M OFFICIALLY A NUT HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to come so bad and keep trying to convince myself that I can. But, I can't. Sorry to keep going back and forth. I just want to come so bad. I'm STRESSED OUT over all I need to get done and how little time I have to do it. David and his son will be here this weekend to help and I have to take advantage of it. UGH!

This trailer project is taking more time than expected. It's a major ordeal to get the old screws out to clean the trim seals and stop the leaks. I was told the old steel screws had all been replaced with stainless when it was restored but they weren't. Some are badly rusted (causing gaps/leaks) and it takes 30 minutes to get each one out. The more we do, the more we find that needs to be done. It has to be finished before I leave on a camp-out on the 24th. This includes building the bed frame and decorating the interior.

PLUS I have a house full of inventory that needs to be sorted, priced, and taken to the booth to sell. PLUS we have guests coming later this month and no furniture in the guest room. Mattresses and bed frame are to be delivered next week but still need to get linens, etc. PLUS I'm 3 months behind on a quilt block swap here on DG. Somehow, I've got to find time/the space to set up my machine and get three blocks done. ALL of this needs to get done in the next 2 weeks. I WOULD SOOOOO MUCH RATHER BE COMING TO YOUR RU!

Charlotte - please forgive me for being so nutty. It would have been fun to go with you. I hate to keep backing out but there's just no way I can go.

Does anyone else want me to pick you up some gloves? I'm going back to $ Tree tomorrow, so speak now! They're awesome gloves. If you hate wearing gloves, you won't mind these at all. Your hands don't sweat in them and they stay dry when handling wet stuff. They're great for handling thorny stuff too. They also help keep the shovel or pitchfork from sliding out of your hands since they're rubber-coated. And think of the callouses you'll prevent. So, last call!! I'm going to stock up because sometimes they're out of them when I need them. So I'm going to get me about 20 pair.

Debra, it sounds like you really need to forget about work for a day and just take the day off. You seem to be under a lot of stress and a day with us might just relax and rejuvinate ya. You'll at least get to eat well.

Marilyn, I think I'm the biggest in the bunch so I can tell you who's going to win the tug of war! So just get out of my way before anybody gets hurt. :-)

Yep, it is definitely hot outside, Kathy Ann! Do we need to bring extra fans and extension cords? I only have one little personal fan, though. We used to have some stand-up fans--haven't seen those since we moved to Cabot 3 1/2 years ago--probably left them in our warehouse on the former property we owned. It's been sold to others so no chance of getting them back now. :o(( No telling what else we left in there! I guess if I haven't missed it in almost 4 years, I don't need it! LOL

Nancy Ann, I looked today when I went to Wal-Mart and there is a Dollar Tree here in Cabot. However, I didn't go in it because I didn't know if you had already bought the gloves for me. If you are going to go there anyway, go ahead and pick up 10 pair for me if you will (instead of the 5 pair). If they don't have that many (10 for me and 20 for you) then just get whatever you want for yourself and I will check at this one here and get some for myself. thanks!

I changed my eating habits, instead of a small lunch at Taco Bell, Burger King, McDonalds, etc. etc. I eat a Lean Cuisine and around now have some sort of fruit, like an apple or bowl full of grapes, or orange, can't wait for peaches, plums, apricots... mmmmm then when I get home Dave has dinner ready and it's almost always something baked, fish, pork chops, he's doing chicken today, with fresh veggies and a small amount of some sort of carbs on the side. I actually lost the 10 pounds in 1 1/2 weeks but have been stuck at 162 for a couple of weeks, so Monday me and Dave switched off mowing Aunt Eller's 1/2 acre with a push mower, and yesterday we went and mowed an acre with a push mower to get some exercise. Dr. Pepper was my weakness too years ago. The dr. told me I had to quit. I worked in construction and never drank water, only Dr. P. He said I was extremely dehydrated and could possibly do damage to my kidneys. And I developed kidney stones from all the sugar, sodium and dehydration.

So I decided one weekend to quit cold turkey. Since I worked in the sun all day, I drank about 10 Dr Ps a day--no kidding. But remember, I never drank anything else--just the soda. So Sat I drank none. By Sat afternoon, I felt horrible, got a headache, began to shake, was very cranky. By Sun morning, I had a migraine and hoped I'd die soon because I felt so bad. About noon, I had had enough and drove to town and got a Dr P. Within an hour, I was all better. :-)

I ended up quitting slowly, adding in more water and consuming fewer and fewer sodas each week until I was down to none. No withdrawal symptoms that way. And I've saved a ton of money to buy plants with! Ummmm, seems I remember you mentioning a nursery on the way to your house, Kathy...

I'll take some zucchini too!

I picked two handfuls of green beans yesterday, our peas are actually producing and I got about 8 pods off of them, the hair that grows on the corn cobs is starting to turn brown on some of them, the potatoes are all dug up, and Dave took a few yellow squash from the bush.

It's not as hard as you think it is to quit drinking soft drinks when you replace them with something else. I was so addicted to Pepsi that if I wasn't sucking on a can by 1pm I was shaking like a leaf and I quit cold turkey. Soft drinks do not quench your thirst but actually dehydrate you more and fill you up with crap. I have turned into an avid iced tea drinker, and my coffee in the mornings of course lol!

So, I have been hanging my head and sticking my lip out - but I just can't make it this time! I hate that I can't snag some of those plants that Nancy is sending to the compost pile! Is that limelight artesmia the plant that turns golden yellow in the fall?? I tried to look it up on the plant files but couldn't find the limelight one.

Oh, and all ya'll discussions on soft drinks. Alex got "educated" at college about how bad the carbonation is in the drinks for you and how it forms carbonic acid in your body, etc etc so I finally gave up my softdrinks and only have them on extremely rare occasions... maybe 4 -5 a yr . I have not lost a SINGLE pound!! Drink more water than I ever have in my life but didn't lose a pound... AND, I will say this, now that I have been off of them and I get to craving one when I finally give in - ALL I taste if the carbonation and it is not nearly as good as I remember them. Out of the few that I have, I rarely ever finish one! The exception was the night that I drove home from Jeri's and I needed the caffeine from my Mtn Dew to try to help keep me awake!!

I was out watering today and it started thundering and turned black outside, soo I brought on the rain again by watering. I should go water more often, maybe I won't have to water before saturday if it rains today.

LOL KA I know how that is! We just got through watering so maybe it'll rain and water the grass! I'll pick up some ice along the way, no problemo!

I have cloth folding chairs, too. I will bring two of them--one for me and one for my cousin. That's all I have-my other lawn chairs aren't any good any more--I should throw them away.

I was hoping to get to set up the tables this morning, but Danny's going to have to be able to pull his trailer inthere tonight and park it and unhitch so Darren and I will be setting up tables tonight and i'll be putting all my plants out tonight instead of this morning.

I'm about to go make a new thread. this thread is where we can post our pics at too
