my peonys are done flowering, can I leave those little seed pod looking things on the tops or do I need to cut them?
I think they look neat and would like to keep them on, but I don't want to do anything that would hurt the plant.
Cut em or not whatever you like - I think they look neat too! But I do usually cut a lot of them off on the principle that the plant will be putting all its energy into the roots for next year instead of growing seed. ( And besides I start to cut the flowers off as they start to fall to pieces so they re not all over my flower beds!)
well I dont like the looks of those rotten petals all over, but I think they should whither up soon, and I thought leaving them might add some nutrients back in the soil around the plant. If I leave the seed pod heads will the plant bloom next spring?
