Local Hort Society is getting rid of its small library ( largely unused) and I picked out a book on Peonies by Allan Rogers, published1995 ( reprinted 96,98 and 2000). Dont know the writer but was attracted by the fact the book has about 150 pictures! Looks like lots of good information too.
There is also an extensive list of herbacious , tree and Itoh cultivars.
A lot of the varieties I have are pictured but there were some that really caught my eye.

Hi Fancy,

I love Rogers' book, and found it really inspiring. I am always on the lookout for peony books, but there are very few. I found these in the library and checked them out over time:

The Gardener's Peony, Herbacious and Tree Peonies, by Martin Page, Timber Press, 2005

The Gardener's Guide to Growing Peonies, Martin Page, 1997

Peonies, by Pamela McGeorge, Firefly, 2006

Peonies by Jane Beardsley Whittingstall, 1999

Hope this helps. Now that peonies are "back in style", maybe more books will be written.

Rogers' book is my favorite!

Thanks Donna and Dian.

I started to read the Rogers book last evening.Although I do love Peonies and have been adding several to my yard every year I have never really learned much about the species itself- thought it was time to get more knowledgable!
