Here's a yellow cutiepie with really dark purple/black foliage... If it is a dahlia, which one is it?

This one's a salmony/peachy/orangey cuteness with same dark foliage that was really beat up they almost just gave it away for free :-) (sweet!)... And again, no tags... Thanks peeps!

They definitely are. I don't know the name, though. There are a lot of the small varieties, with dark foliage, etc. I have one called Dark Angel-is the series name. Nice find!

thanks, queequeg :). They were red-tagged already since only 4 dinky plants remained, but they gave them to me for an extra 50% off. The foliage struck me more than the flowers. Very nice contrast with the flowers.

You're welcome. Makes me mad your HD discounts. Mine does not. Jerks. Really? Would you rather make some money or none? Lowes does, which is the only reason I go there.
Re: dark foliage. I loove the super dark foliage also. But, if anyone knows please pipe in-why does it lighten up after the new growth comes in? Or is it my darn sun?

hmm, you know, there's new growth at the base of the salmon colored one and it is lighter. But it seems to darken as the leaves get older... I'm gonna hafta keep an eye on them, maybe i'll put one in semi shade and the other in some sun and see what happens...

ya, my HD is really cool with unwanted plants. I usually like scouting their garden center at odd days cos that's when they make a last ditch attempt to sell off the unsellables :-) esp at the end of spring!

Wow. They are beautiful.. I want some dahlia so bad but I never see them in our garden centers. I guess I just miss them, they probably go fast. -Can anyone suggest a reputable online nursery to buy some?

I'm also a lover of the dark foliage. I think Bishop of Llandoff was the first in the series long ago.

Swan Island, Dan's Dahlias, Corralitos (my fave), and many more. Check out suppliers at Plant Files or Products and Services.
