There's probably some Charley somewhere it can draw strength from.
Let me show you this sunflower that came up in some Charley Poo.
I didn't plant it, I guess the birds did. But there is poo thru-out that garden.

I'm home and the nursery is ready for my Baby! Ya think it might be a late bloomer? By the way, Jaybird, my octuplet Gingers are doing well, thanks to my friend who watered everything while we were on vacation. I still have to come up with four more names, they were preemies, ya know.

Ohh really!! Please do,,, You just have to show up at McCarren Airport by 3 pm on the 7th of July,,,lol

The hotel is already paid for. I am going to be staying off strip at the Boulder Station Hotel and Casino. It is 4 blocks from my parents house, so I can walk there every day or Mom will pick me up. See I will not have to be fighting all the Vegas 1 million plus bad drivers except going to and from the hotel and I can shop near the hospital,,shopping is walking distance there too!! So I am hoping to really really avoid being in traffic very much. Or I will get around by the bus system I can get an unlimited pass for $20.00 for the 6 days I will be there. I can be cheap and safe at the same time. Of course if Marion / Maid M was driving I would be safer yet,, she is one of the rare folks that I would let drive me anywhere!!

Thanks Fruity,, I keep forgetting that since I am over 50, that my parents are over 70 and they really have had it rough with 5 girls and have had several heart attacks each. My mom is a trouper and well dad is,,, well dad. He litterly has only 1/4th of a heart. The rest is pacemakers and other stuff I donot understand. Now with the kidney stuff it is getting to where his time here is getting shorter. I think we have all been expecting him to pass for awhile now, which is just an awful feeling. I know he is miserable. But I am still going to try to have a good time with them. I know most of this makes no sence and I am sorry to go on and on..

Elfie you just say whatever come to mind. I'm having a similar situation with my Dad too. He has bad cancer and is in chemo. No one knows the outcome for sure, but the best they can do is buy him some time. No cure for sure. It's just going to be one of those years. Fortunately I'm not that far away and I can go visit whenever I want to and help them out and do things with them.

Hugs!!! You're in fact very fortunate that you'll be able to spend time with him. When dad was in shutdown mode, I was in Egypt, and my family couldn't get hold of me in time. I couldn't tell him goodbye.

Neener, know that we'll be here for you as well.

Right now, my mind's pretty waylaid by Kel's dad too. When one family member is seriously ill, it affects the rest.. provided the family dynamics is there.

I am just saying prayers for all of you going thru these trying times. I know that without Daves Garden Folks last year, I wouldn't have made it thru while caregiving until the end with Pauline as well as I did. You are all special and I know it is hard to lose family, but we will see everyone in the end. Anyway, I look forward to seeing all my family up there in Heaven when I get there. I miss them all. I agree with Charleen... Head up, one day at a time, do what you have to and when you can.. come here for support. We love you. We know your family loves you and they know you love them.

I went to the dr today. I did not get any boxes sent out. I can't say I am sorry enough. I got everything ready , tho, and as soon as I can stand, walk, bend and drive, I will get things out in the mail. Until then, everything is growing in their little containers. My hats are sitting patiently to go out for another swap I am in. I feel helpless and frustrated.
This too shall pass. At least I don't have to have surgery. It is just a little cracked bone sliver in the L4 hitting a nerve. I guess that will teach me to not ask for help when I need it here at home. He told me I will break alot more bones if I don't be careful. I guess I will be more careful of what I do. Osteoporosis and five fused together vertabres will just snap and crack when I try to bend, pull, push and lift anything. I was worried it was a herniated disc, he laffed. I don't have any discs left to herniate down there. The good news I got today was, my copd has not progressed!
Well, I have stood on the soap box too long, so sorry.

I finally tried the online postage at usps.com, and oh my. I really like to sit at my computer, weigh the packages enter all the info, and then wait for the postman. I don't have to put them in the car, carry them into the post office and stand inline anymore!

Please know I am sending lots of thoughts and prayers to all those in need. So many of us are going through trying times, and I for one am very glad you are all here for shoulders to lean on. So you all just keep on talking, and keep us posted!

LK I wouldn't do any of this swap thing or anything else on DG if I had to go to the P.O.. I have stamps.com and with the carrier pick up it is no fuss. With the auctions that I sometimes have going on it is a Godsend. The average wait in our local post office is 1/2 hour.

Debra try to take it a little easier. I know I should talk. It's hard to remember that the body isn't as young as the mind at this age. It really isn't fair. They say that youth is wasted on the young and suddenly I understand that so well. :))

Everyone we all are moving forward together, sharing each others pains, sadness, happiness and joys. That is what friends do! Jaye, I had two options, deny or make the best of what was happening--much like you and Kel. It would have been much easier to just play ostrich (hole in the sand) but then that isn't me.

Debra, take care of yourself--there is only 1 you, Neener going all weepy doesn't do anything but make you feel worse (if possible) so go forward day by day and relish every moment you have with your dad. That goes for all.

There are soo many caring people here and I am privilaged to know some of you. I will be fine, I have accepted that I will not be there when the end comes for my dad and probley will not be able to go back for his funeral. I am just glad I can go now.. But gosh money is so tight here and everywhere,, I just keep saying at least I am out of most of the pain from my back and I have wonderful grandchildren to keep me feeling young too!! I also have Ralph and he is the most wonderful part of my life, don't know what I ever did to DESERVE him,, but sure glad he is here. We also can pay our bills and there is food on the table and I can do a few swaps here and there,, so I would say we are better off than some. As someone said recently to me " You have a roof over your head, food in the pantry , grandkids to keep you young and love to keep you going" So I do have it all!!!

Just got back from the doc and the news was HORRIBLE!!! I gained 3 pounds, and my colesterol went from 158 to 409, my trigliserites went from 219 to 1240!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and yes that is correct1240,, not a typo there. The notes one the results said my levels are not just high but "PANIC HIGH" This change happened in 90 days and the doc said she is at a loss to explain it as I am following my diet and taking my meds. Well I ran out for 3 weeks and finally got them but she says there is nooo way 3 weeks with out the pills made it jump that far.She said I would have be eating BUCKETS of lard for this to happen. But consiter this the first time she took tests they were 1150 they droped to 219 in 90 days whats to say they did not just go right back up??? I am at a complete loss and more than a little freaked out!! So now I am on more darn pills and will be going to a specialist!! .. I did not get to ask about the trip, I was that shocked... But I did tell her nurse and she did not think it would be a problem. So what do you all think? Panic Haigh and still can fly?? That sounds strange especially after she stated I am a walking heart attack or major stroke?? I donot know what to do,,,

oh Kris... thank goodness you went to the dr!! I'm just wondering if you need to re-do that test, just to confirm that the lab didn't mess something up. After you ran out of the meds, how long a time frame was it from when you restarted taking them and the time of this appt? It takes a while to re-regulate your system after 3 wks off..
Call the doc and ask about the trip.. you need to hear it from her, not a nurse ..just to reassure yourself, you know? :)

Did she change the meds? Are you real consistant about taking them at the same time each day?

Sending hugs your way!

Kris, I don't know if flying will aggravate your bp. I agree with Chris, you need to ask the doctor. Me missing my meds for a week will play havoc to my system. 3 weeks is too long, Kris.
I'm certain, that if you had flown before, you won't be stressed out during the flight, and it will be okay for you.
Do take care of yourself, take all your meds, and most importantly, record what you eat. You never know, certain foods can trigger your cholestrol. I know for a fact, being diabetic, I have to stay away from potatoes and rice. They elevate my bs count.

((((((Susan)))))) I don't ever want to be in your shoes. Thank heavens, your dad passed on naturally.
Besides no closure with my dad, it happened with my mum too.
I was here when she's diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 58. Doctors told her she has one year left, and I was making arrangements at work to take a month long leave. But before I could get the tickets, she passed away precisely one month after being diagnosed.

Our loved ones will always remain in our hearts for as long as we're on earth.
We will all be reunited with our them, thank God, He gives us that chance!

Hugs and prayers go out to y'all.

Ok,, called the Doc, she said I can go, just donot forget to take my new pills with me,,,sigh. And I take them all at the same time every night 9pm to 9:15pm. Then I pass out with in 30 to 45 minutes. I was out of pills fro the 11th of May to the4th of June. So not quite 3 weeks. I donot eat much bread, just the Sarah Lee 45 cal for 2 slice multigrain and only 2 slices every day or so. As for Corn and peas,, did not know they were high in starch, I eat alot of snow peas,, they are bad?? I LOVE snow peas. I bout a book Diabetic cooking for Dummies and it was so confusing I never used it. I am still a mess over the diet thing and it has been 6 months of up and down.. My sugaer has been real good. Now how do I get the rest fixed,,,sigh.. Maybe the new Doc can figure it out. I am taking160mg of Fenofibrate and now I am taking 30 mg of crestor too Plus the pills for anxiety and also thew pills for the Degenertive bone s in my spine. Too many pills,,

Maybe the extra help from Crestor will reduce your #s Kris.
I was once put on 2 kinds of cholestrol meds, and Dr. removed one, the minute my #s were managed.

I don't see how snow peas are bad for you, as it's actually a legume.. whereby you eat the whole pod.

Corn is another food that one should be extra careful with.

Debra, how are you? I hope your pain is manageable.
Lady M will grow to be one very elegant ROYALTY!!! With your gentle care, and special food expertise, she won't be lacking of anything.

Neener, I'm so glad to see that Duke's making some efforts acclimatizing to his surroundings.

Look at Dell!!! That's a show off for sure!!! Charleen, your baby certainly must be one happy little fella if he keeps blooming that way!

Ahhh.. I should have seen these pics first before the trip to the doctor this morning.

My BP is atrociously high, and he told me to double up on my meds. Asked me what new stress I have that's causing my bp to be elevated this high.
First thing I thought of is this..
Yes mamas, I do worry about all your babies and more so with the survivors since Baby Fox and Marion Jr. went to the Heavenly Garden.

So, if you want to help me reduce my bp, post more happy pictures please. Remember, I'll keep updating your folders and only with pictures can the judge assess who's the FITTEST mother.

Repeat.. no briberies.

Oh dear, you guys with high bp , try this:

Go out side at 7pm, sit in front of your favorite view, breathe in breath out, and look about. Think of nothing but what you see. Do this for 7 days in a row, same time, same spot. Concentrate on Looking and seeing, listening to the sounds outside and the sound of your breathing. Give yourselves at leats 20 minutes of this alone with nature time. you deserve it.

I had high BP. It went away when Spring came. Dr doesn't know why. If my back was as controllable as my mind, I would be great. I never saw my fused crunched lower vertabres until Monday. He reminded me of my bone deteriation, he told me about it a few years back after my bone test. I lost three inches of height. now I know where it went.
I quit the actenol on purpose. I doubled up on the calcium and D vitamins. I quit the hormone replacements 6 years ago. I quite honestly do not believe in doctors and medicines these days after all I have lost in my family. I just Pray alot. Is it okay to say that here?
here is my favorite view for this week. I pick a different spot everyweek.

*** Baby Announcement -----------> It's a Girl ! ***

The stork delivered Baby Heuchera "Coral Bell" this morning from Linda Kay -- I think my girl's already a teenager -- and she arrived with two different bi-colored Caladiums and two Brug cuttings to keep my precious Coral Bell company on her long journey from Texas. The Japanese Cherry scented Bath & Body Works hand soap and hand cream smell heavenly and will come in handy after changing all those dirty diapers. I've already placed the Butterfly and Flower pot sitters on my big ol "friendship" bowl of houseplants many of you have shared with me. What cracked me up were the pruners so I can give Coral Bell a haircut and the big bottle I've already used to feed her.

Coral Bell and her friends are in good hands, LK, and she's already enjoying the company of her three Heuchera cousins. You have no idea how much I really wanted another one and you came through like a true Texas gem! Love my new babies :)

Love the plant tags ridesredmule, if you are trying different kinds of markers on the wooden tag, try a wood burning tool. That should be very permanent. My FIL use to make me all kinds of things using the burning tool and they are quite inexpensive. He made me a wooden cutting board I have used for years that says "Life Is Full Of Calories", not a truer word has been spoken...LOL

Here is an update on Gracie. She seems to like her new home, she is growing. She doesn't seem to want to bloom very much, but I am having a problem with something nipping the buds off of everything in that bed. I am going to put up my husbands wildlife camera and see if I can catch the culprit. I has to be a deer, because it is just the buds and some of the plants (roses) are 2 ft. high. Very frustrating.

How is everybody, noone is chatting anymore, what happened? I had lost this thread for a while. Why does it 'unwatch' it for you? That has happened several times with me.

I have seen baby grasshoppers! Yuck! One year they ate my entire landscape, everything. I thought well the next year they wouldn't be so bad, but again the same thing, then we got a duck and 2 geese, they ate and ate and ate. I haven't had grasshoppers since then. Now I don't have the geese or duck...I am worried.

The Jap beetles are here already which is early for us. They have destroyed my 2 floribunda rose while we were on vacation. Doing a number on the hibiscus and carpet roses too. I pull them off and drown them about 3 times a day to keep ahead of them. I hate them too Charlene. Even found them chewing on the brugs. Thought they were poisonous. :0)

Ditto! They've already done a number on the leaves of the Purple Hyacinth Bean Vines I started from seeds and also the hardy Hibiscus. These munching machines make leaves look like skeletons.

Here's a pic of a JB, Debra: http://davesgarden.com/guides/terms/showimage.php?did=2885&tid=2298

The last thing you want to do is hang Japanese Beetle Traps in your yard, unless you want to change them everyday for weeks. We were told in Class that each one is capable of holding 4,000 and thats only one or two days' catch. When the traps are full and you don't dispose of them properly or hang new ones, more JB's will invade your property, devouring everything in sight, not only your gardens but also trees.

I am like Debra no problem with those beetles thank goodness. One year the grasshoppers ate the paint off the west side of the house, fiberglass screens on the windows, along with everything else. The farmers were spraying so they were all coming to my house. DH bought 2 geese and a duck, that duck went crazy eating the grasshoppers. I was beginning to think the duck was going to be so fat he would explode. The geese on the other hand were not much good...in fact other than laughing at them cause they were silly, not much good at all...

"I used old clay pots and Liquid Nails to make these houses. I used a piece of yellow kitchen sponge to create the look of bricks. I made a 3D doors from Sculpey III clay that I colored with old eye shadow and paint. It doesn't look to hard to make. I'm thinking the bottom (green) is about a 18" to 20" saucer, then different size pots and saucers for the rest of it. The biggest pot looks to be about 12". Wouldn't be hard to figure out what size pots to use. Looks like there are 8 pots all together.

Congrats on being Sunshine's new Mommy, LK! You're so lucky...the only knock-out roses we have around here are the common pink ones.

Coral Bell is a good baby Girl and is doing well even in his horrid heat.
