Aww...thanks guys. All I want for my birthday is time to work in the gardens. Yet, somehow this is the busiest weekend I've had in months. LOL Murphy's Law.
Pirl, I will always take a sexy lily pic in lieu of dahlias! Wow-that thing is awesome! Can I come lay in your yard and just SSSNNNIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFF all those lilies?
todgor-Is that Barbara Hardisty Kantor? Regardless-so beautiful. Sorry you're having rot/wormy problems.

Here's a daylily, Destined to See.

Wow-pirl, that thing's a knock-out. Is that one you hybridized?
Thank you Tex-That IS a gorgeous rose. Sigh... I wish I had patience for roses.

It's not one of mine, Carrie. I'll add one I hybridized to keep your birthday thread going.

That rose is too beautiful.

I'm a dud with roses though some do grow well for me but they want a 24 hour a day nursemaid and I'm not up to it. Now the Japanese beetles have arrived so I cut back every plant by a foot and remove every rose so the beetles will have to go elsewhere for their orgies of food and sex for three weeks.

Oh c'mon Carrie! If you have the patience for dahlias, certainly you can have the patience for roses.

Here - come and take a look at my secret garden. STOP BY AND SMELL THE ROSES!
This will make you drool and *sigh* some more:

As much as I like dahlias, roses are my real passion.

What a beautiful feast for the eyes. For all the new roses on the market and all your photos it's still your Peace and Chicago Peace that I love best even though I do have and love Graham Thomas.

They are all wonderful photos!

D'nut - we've missed you and Poochella!

Carrie and I exchanged a few Dmails about propagating dahlias so I gave it a try with three of them, using the piece I pinched off and planting it in a pot. I have roots! Now I tried a piece of American Dream just to be sure I'll have more than one. If they end up forming tubers, as I'm guessing they will, I'll post photos.

Fafard (FAF-ard, not Fa-FARD as I always said before I heard it pronounced correctly) is the name of a company that makes many soilless mixes. I use the one for containers.

It's late in the season to start dahlias but I can find room to plant them...somewhere! Let's see if they'll bloom for me or even make tubers.
