Mine was going crazy - blooming, growing, and taking over a corner of my house. My son and DIL came over to help me reclaim some of the territory - and it was then that we discovered that the upper branch had started and rooted into the leaf debris in the gutter!!!!! Can we say that they helped with the gutter cleaning, as well???

Your family, or the forsythia, lol! We can say whatever we like, but does that make it true? I'm getting metaphysical here ... of course your forsythia helped clean your gutters. Send them over to do mine, would you? Thanks for the hilarious comment!

I learned the hard way about wisteria thuggery - after it got UNDER the roofing. Little did I expect anything similar from forsythia. Maybe there is a warning there - plants whose names end in "ia" are wolves in disguise.

But they don't end in "ia" - you're spoiling a perfectly good theory with facts! :-)
