We have a new market that has great potential but our manager has been totally disconnected all summer. Finally a group of us has gotten together and we havetaken over the market . The manager would not turn over the paper work nor would she tell us how much money we had until we called a lawyer and he succeeded in getting us the needed information. It seems she never collected parking fees from 3 vendors and she also never checked to make sure they had necessary permits or insurence. She had had them sign vendor agreements using outdated paper work and since the papers said all fees had to be paid April 2009 instead of April 2010, they say they do not have to pay for this year.
Needless to say the farmer's market association we are forming, needs new By Laws and Rules immediately. The lawyer is filing for our incorporation in two weeks and we need to make real decisions as soon as possible. To help get the ball rolling, do any of you have copies of your Markets rules or By laws we could use as a guide . If you could send me a pdf file or something it sure could help us.
I know everyone is very busy this time of year but we really need to get this rolled out ASAP. There are 36 vendors in this market . For most of us it is our main income and this market could easily become a year round market with the right promotors and enthsiasm.
