Imperial Splendor B.O.M. from Joann's

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I decided a few months back to work on a B.O.M. project, and I chose the Imperial Splendor series from JoAnn's. The colors just work for me . . .

Anyway, I've noticed at the Joann's here in town they are changing out the B.O.M. projects. Neither of the stores carry any of the blocks anymore. The Joann's website still has many blocks available - I already have 5 of the 12 . . . but I can't find block 7 - the site says no longer available. I tried calling customer service, but of course they are closed for the weekend now . . .

My question is - did anyone get an extra block 7 that I can take off your hands? I'd pay full price for it.

If I can't find block 7, there wouldn't really be much point in continuing to purchase the remaining 6 blocks . . . I'd probably make pillows out of the 5 blocks I've got.

Or, if someone has finished that block, if it would be possible to scan and email the instructions, I could get the fat quarters to cut the pieces for the block myself . . .

Any help would be appreciated!

I'll look too. You know you will end up with 10 block 7s!!!! Then you can make all these interchangeable pillows to go with your quilt!!!

Today I received the block 7 that Laura (housse301) found for me! Ye ah! Jumped on to the Joann's site, and ordered the other 6 blocks I needed, plus the setting kit. Hopefully I will get those fairly quickly!

Thanks Laura!

Just checked the tracking info for my Joann's order. Estimated delivery is 10/5, but I checked the fedex tracking, and it's out for delivery today! That is really not bad timing for standard shipping.

Got my box! Yeah! The only thing I'll need to do now if find binding. They had binding in the stores, but I didn't really like the pattern . . . would have gotten it though, 'cause it was all folded, and ready to use, etc. But, will just go to Joann's here locally . . . I think they may still have the material by the yard. If not here locally, then at Joann.com.

I figure this is a good spot to post the pix of the blocks as I finish them . . .

I like that pattern, the end design always looks different when you change the color alignment. That green is pretty too!

Thanks, Kizmo. I started in on block 3 yesterday, but it is one with appliques, so I'm reading the instructions on that part . . . the green in the background is actually my bedspread, since I don't have a place on the wall to hang blocks . . . but I'll look for something!

Great job Nicole!!!! I like those colors too they are nice and warm to work on this time of year. I bought an entire kit to do from them too. Forgot the name I will have to look when I get home but they are really pretty. Keep showing the pics love to watch the progress ;) Cher

Here we go with block #3! I thought appliques would be harder . . .

how did you do the appliqués?? are the edges folded under?? machine stitched?? can't quite tell from the photo.....Beautiful block!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

You are doing great Nichole. I love the colors and I like that you stop to read directions when you need to... That's a sign to me of a good quilter. You care enough to do it right.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

On this block the material was provided to cut the appliques. I had to trace the shape out on freezer paper, then trim with a 1/4" allowance. The edges are folded under and hand stitched on this one. I figure on the next one that has appliques, I'll try and do a zig-zag on the machine, and see how that turns out.

I do like the colors on this project. I still haven't decided which material to use for the backing or binding, but I have 9 more blocks to go, plus the setting kit before I have to decide. By then I'll have seen all the material in the project, and can decide which I like better.

Here is a closeup of the appliques. Like I said, I did hand stitches this time . . . I used green for them because it was a common color between the two applique materials.

Here's a close-up of the applique stitching. I used the mid-size zig-zag feature on my sewing machine this time . . .

Those are looking great. The name of the one I bought was Bohemian Treasures. from Joanns. I like them the look like they give plenty of directions. I bought the entire kit so when I am ready to do it I have them all. After seeing yours I just know I will love mine.

I didn't realize it had been so long since I worked on these blocks!

I just finished block number 6 (in the pic), so after I pick my daughter up from the bus in a half hour, I will start in on the hard to find #7!
