While Virginia Creeper is notorious for its habit of "taking over" whatever it happens to encounter, it does have at least one redeeming feature. It is host to the Luna moth caterpillar. For those who do not know about the Luna moth, it is one of the rarest and beautiful moths in North America -- so rare that in the past 48 years, I have seen only two.

Control the Virginia Creeper in your garden if you must, but watch for the Luna moth caterpillar, too.
