I have found that even in winter, the prettiest birds flock to pokeberries. I started letting a few get big close to my bird feeders in winter. I know pokeberries are poisonous, and supposedly a weed. But the bluebirds, orioles, woodpeckers and warblers, just to name a few, flock to the dried berries in all seasons. But in winter, I saw colorful birds that I have never seen before. (I haven't got the best eyesight so I don't ID smaller, active birds very well!) Kansas, zone 5b
