My Canon Powershot S500 has been just fine, but...I'm considering an upgrade to the SX20IS. Actually the S500 had to go back to Canon last week for repair and although they fixed the problem for no charge, it came back with a very loud shutter noise. More than that, though, while I thought my camera was toast I started researching it's replacement. Now it's back and working, but I find myself still lusting after an upgrade.
Does anyone have any experience with the Canon SX20 IS? What I'm looking for is something for pictures of my dogs and my roses...that's about it...Nothin' fancy, but I think I'd be getting a better macro capability and less lag time between shots. Also the SX20IS used regular AA batteries, which seems like an advantage to me. (The SX30IS seems to revert to a special battery pack.)
Just saw this ...and that you changed your mind. But just in case, I have had the SX20IS for almost a year and I love it. There is a lag time between photos. I use mine for bird photography mainly. I am very satisfied with it.
